Caerphilly County Borough Council are pleased to announce that although the Caerphilly Big Cheese Festival cannot take place in its usual format this year, due to development works taking place in Caerphilly Castle, an alternative event will take place in 2022, the Caerphilly Little Cheese Festival!
On 3rd and 4th September, Caerphilly Little Cheese Festival will take place in Caerphilly town centre forming a music event with a number of music areas throughout Cardiff Road and Castle Court Shopping Centre, as well as a central stage in Twyn Car Park

Unpaid carers in Caerphilly County Borough, who were in receipt of Carers Allowance on 31 March 2022, can now apply for a one-off £500 payment.
The Welsh Government payment is being made in recognition of the increased financial pressures many unpaid carers have experienced during the pandemic, and to help with some of the additional costs they have incurred.

Risca Beach Party, a new event that was held in Tredegar Park on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May, saw an overwhelming number of visitors enjoy the glorious sunshine and 130 tonnes of sand that was laden with picnic blankets, deckchairs, buckets and spades.
Risca town centre footfall counter, located slightly away from the park by Risca Library, clocked nearly 1,500 visitors over the two day event, whilst the beach entrance recorded nearly 5,000 visitors passing the entranceway into the giant sand pit over the weekend.

As they approach the first anniversary of the launch of Caerphilly Veterans Support Hub, the co-founders, Lisa Rawlings and Kelly Farr, reflect back over the last year.
On the opening session in June 2021, there were 4 veterans sat around a table. Fast forward to June 2022 and they regularly have 40+ veterans and their families at each session, sometimes many more! Veterans want to have opportunities to come together, to feel like they “belong” to something, like they did when they served

The Autumn Leisure Lifestyle Choose to Lose weight loss challenge finished last week with amazing results being recorded across the county borough.
The eight week weight loss challenge ran from four locations spread across the County Borough with individuals receiving personalised training programmes and one-to-one support from staff.

The Welsh Government is consulting on changes to the Mental Capacity Act and how they will be applied.
The Act has been amended and will include changes to the way care or treatment is authorised for people who lack the capacity to consent, including those over 16 and patients in health or community settings, including hospitals, care homes, or their own homes.
