Caerphilly Council’s major investment to create healthier lives

Over the past 4 years, Caerphilly Council has invested significantly into infrastructure to ensure Caerphilly’s residents can lead healthy lives in healthy spaces.
 
Thoughtful investment of up to £500m to date, has seen the creation of state of the art facilities to allow residents to lead more active and sustainable lives in areas across the county borough.
 
A fine example of this investment is the £300 thousand pounds spent to upgrade the health suite facilities in both Caerphilly and Newbridge Leisure Centres, the work has resulted in high quality, fit for purpose facilities that supports customer wellbeing

Athletics Hub at Rhiw Syr Dafydd Primary School - Place Shaping in the Community

Ruth Powell, Rhymney Valley Athletics Club

With the support of Welsh Government, we have been able to develop an athletics hub at Rhiw Syr Dafydd Primary School - helping to support athletes to develop and providing a much valued community asset for residents.

The six lane, 300 metre track is the first of its kind within the county borough.

Re-use Shop - Place Shaping in the Community

Re-use Shop

Sustainability is a key priority for us as a local authority. To demonstrate this, we have invested £800,000 to develop the Penallta Re-Use Shop, which will restore unwanted appliances desposed of through our Household Waste Recycling Centres to resell these products and minimise the County Borough's overall waste.

Newbridge Leisure Centre - Place Shaping in the Community

Newbridge Leisure Centre

Newbridge Leisure Centre has benefitted from significant investment. This includes £182,000 in new sensory and play equipment for the swimming pool and a brand new state of the art fitness suite that residents will soon be able to enjoy.
