 As this is the final e-newsletter of 2021, the Childcare and Early Years Team would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support over the last 12 months. 2021 has been another year of uncertainty and challenges, but as always, you have risen to those challenges and continued to provide a childcare service that we are all immensely proud of. Thank you!
We wish you and your families health, happiness, and prosperity this Christmas and in the coming New Year.
Below are a few important reminders for you and some fun activities.
On 8 November we sent all childcare providers information about Dewis and some instructions and how to register. View the e-bulletin here.
Thank you to those who have already registered. We’ve had some lovely feedback about how easy this registration process is and how convenient it is to be able to update your own information.
If you have not registered yet, it’s important that you do this by the end of December deadline. Otherwise, your details won’t be available to families who want to find out about your service.

 Need help to keep the kids entertained over the Christmas period? Have some fun with these healthy festive recipes.
Celery Reindeer Sticks
Ingredients: Celery sticks, Peanut butter, Raspberries, Edible eyes, Pretzels.
Fruit Christmas Trees
Ingredients: Bananas, raisins, stick pretzels, cheese slices.
Fruit Snowmen
Ingredients: Bananas, Strawberries, Grapes, Raisins, orange zest.
 Here are a few festive Christmas crafts for kids that will keep them busy until Santa arrives.
Paper Roll Rudolph: Cardboard tube, twigs, googly eyes, pompom
Tube Christmas Tree: Cardboard, green paint, pom poms, gems.
 Go for a Christmas Lights walk
This is best in a residential area where children can look out for all the Christmas lights and other decorations. Look at the variety of lights, indoors and out. Compare this with lights that are used all year round (a good reason for another walk in January).
Follow a Star
Set up a star trail outside. Children have to look for the stars hung in different places and complete the activities written on each star, for example, Do 10 star jump, touch the ground 6 times or walk back 5 paces. Better still, the children could create their own ideas for a star trail. Older children can create trails for younger children to follow.
Go on a Present Hunt
Wrap up a box in gift paper. Take turns at hiding the box in different places outside for other children to find. Children can give clues such as “getting warmer” as a child gets closer to the box and “going cold” if a child moves further away or in the wrong direction.
Create natural decorations and hang outside
It is possible to create simple stars from sticks and other natural materials. It can be useful for practising tying ribbon, weaving and other fine motor skills. Think about where would be a good place to put the decorations and who would want to enjoy seeing them.
