The Council’s Cabinet has approved proposals to begin the reopening of several of its buildings, in line with Alert Level Zero guidance from Welsh Government.
From Monday 4 October appointment-only visits will be available for members of the public at the Council’s Penallta House headquarters.
Appointments can be made by contacting the Council’s Customer Services Team on 01443 866571; visitors without an appointment will not be able to access the building

Welsh Government announces decisions on LDBCW recommendations
Reforms to Caerphilly Council’s ward boundaries are to go ahead after the Welsh Government decided to accept the recommendations of the Local Democracy and Boundary Commission for Wales with modifications made to five recommendations.
The Commission’s Final Recommendations were submitted to the Welsh Government 05 November 2020 and Minister for Finance and Local Government, Rebecca Evans MS, has today confirmed that the decision has been made to accept the majority of the recommendations.

Residents are reminded that a lane closure and traffic lights aren ow in place as the next phase of the works on Hafodyrynys Hill (Woodside Terrace) begins.
The lane closure, controlled by traffic lights on the A472 are in place to ensure the safety of the workers and to maintain a continuous footway link for pedestrians.
The traffic lights will be operational between the hours of 9:30am and 15:00pm. These works are currently planned to last four weeks from Monday 27 September.

Following extensive ground investigations and drainage surveys Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Highways Team have determined that the drainage on Groes-Faen Terrace, Bargoed requires replacing to prevent further ground deterioration.
As part of the pre-enabling works to repair the road, a weekend closure starting at 8am on the 9th October until the 4pm on the 10th October will be in place between Groes-Faen Terrace and the Factory Road junction.
The anticipated start date for the road and drainage replacement works is the 18th October 2021 and are expected to take seven weeks to complete.

A new initiative which aims to increase physical activity levels for young people across Caerphilly County Borough has been launched today (Friday 1st October).
Caerphilly County Borough Council and the leisure services are proud to launch the ‘Year 7 Active’ initiative in collaboration with all comprehensive schools.
The new initiative will give Year 7 pupils free access to all ten sport and leisure facilities across the County Borough. This will include free access to swimming, fitness suites, classes and racquet sports..

10 awards have been won by the various Caerphilly Basin voluntary groups at the Wales in Bloom awards in Anglesey.
Wales in Bloom is the regional element of the National Britain in Bloom Competition supported by the Royal Horticultural Society.
Their message is ‘Helping Communities Grow’ to encourage voluntary support that improves individuals’ local environment.

Newbridge Leisure Centre has seen a £90,000 investment to install a new interactive play equipment in the pool. The new play features include high and low level water jets, water bowls, water sprays and tipping buckets which can be used by children of all ages and abilities. The interactive sensory play explores new ways to build confidence in all children allowing them to explore the water environment and challenge children’s visual, auditory and tactile stimuli. Children can engage all their senses through the new water play.

The Inspire 2 Achieve Service is looking to appoint a number of vacancies AND several posts Support Officers to join their team.
Each candidate will be responsible for delivering an educational programme to a cohort of young people in a secondary school setting. The key aims of the programme is to support a young person’s attainment, attendance, or behaviour in school.
Experience of working with 11-19 year olds and being able to deliver and assess an educational programme is essential. You must also be able to meet set targets and deadlines. The candidate must have experience in working with a wide range of external partners that can have a direct positive impact on the project and young people.
These posts are fixed term until 30th September 2022 at which time it will be reviewed in line with Grant funding from the European Social Fund.
