The team of judges from the D.H. Lawrence Society, Nottingham City of Literature, Eastwood Writers’ Group and Broxtowe Borough Council loved reading all the entries. With 365 from right across Broxtowe, the UK, Turkey, Bangladesh, the USA and UAE, they had the difficult task of narrowing them down to just a few winners.

Thousands of Homes Will Be Eligible for £9,000 Off a Heat Pump

Graphic of a family made from wool stating that people on heating oil could get £9,000 to upgrade to a heat pump.

The government has confirmed that households using heating oil or liquified petroleum gas (LPG) will be eligible for a new £9,000  grant to upgrade to a heat pump.

A heat pump heats your home using electricity. It works like a fridge in reverse, taking heat from the air or ground, increasing it to a higher temperature and transferring it to your home to provide heating and hot water.

This new £9,000 grant will be available from 21 July through the government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
