As a reminder Broxtowe has approved a rent increase for the financial year 2026/27. If you claim Universal Credit you'll need to update your journal with your new rent amount, or you could lose out on the difference.

If you are having difficulty paying your rent please contact the Income team as soon as possible, who will be able to discuss your situation with you and offer help and advice.

The sooner we are aware that you are having difficulties the easier it will be for us to help you.

Furthermore, our Financial inclusion service offers free, confidential, impartial advice and support. This can be from debt management, helping with benefit claims and supporting you with challenging decisions.

Test it Tuesday

Smoke Alarm

'Test it Tuesday' is to encourage everyone to take time to test not just our own smoke alarms, but the smoke alarms of family and friends too.

Almost one in ten people test their smoke alarm just once a year or less, a frequency that provides little meaningful assurance that the device will actually work when it matters most.

Working smoke alarms save lives, but we all need a gentle reminder that we need to make sure they are in full working order..

Regular testing of your alarm will give you the peace of mind that should a fire start, you will be given the warning you need to escape. UK Government fire safety data shows that having a working smoke alarm means you are more than twice as likely to survive an accidental house fire.

Regulations require landlords to test alarms at the start of every new tenancy. However, the responsibility for ongoing testing typically falls to the tenant.

If you would like email reminders to test your smoke alarm then sign up at Smoke Alarm Reminder Service
