An Inspector Calls

Regulator of Social Housing

The Regulator of Social Housing will be inspecting Broxtowe Borough Council in October.

In 2024 the Regulator of Social Housing set out four new consumer standards that landlords such as the Council have to adhere to.

1. Safety and Quality

2.Transparency, Influence and Accountability

3.Neighbourhood and Community Standard

4. Tenancy Standard

What are the different judgments that can be made for the consumer standards?

There are four consumer grades ranging from C1-C4, with C1 demonstrating that the landlord is delivering the outcomes and provides remedies when issues occur and C4 representing serious failings. You can see the judgements of inspected landlords here

Gas Safety Week 8 - 14 September

Tenants unpacking cardboard boxes

As your landlord, Broxtowe Borough Council has a legal obligation to ensure that gas appliances and pipe work in your home are checked for safety at least once every 12 months.

Our in-house Gas Safe Registered Engineers will carry out these vital checks to ensure they are safe for you and your family to use.

We will contact you when your annual gas servicing and maintenance is due, with an appointment. If for any reason you are not able to keep the appointment, please contact Housing Repairs, who will be happy to rearrange this for you.

For further information about Gas Safety, visit our website where you can download our Repairs Handbook.

Test it Tuesday

Pressing smoke alarm

'Test it Tuesday' is to encourage everyone to take time to test not just our own smoke alarms, but the smoke alarms of family and friends too.

Working smoke alarms as we all know save lives, but from time to time we all need a gentle reminder that we need to make sure they are in full working order.

Fires can start at any time and for many reasons. Having a working smoke alarm can make the difference between getting out safely or not at all.

Regular testing of your alarm will give you the peace of mind that should a fire start, you will be given the warning you need to escape.

It's a Kind of Magic!

Magician card trick

A magician visited one of our Independent Living Schemes in Beeston to entertain the tenants.

From classic card tricks and cup in ball routines to mentalism and magic rope there really was something for everyone. David combined skillful performance with impressive finales as he subverted common tricks and confounded expectations leaving staff and tenants alike asking, how was that done?

The tenants were thoroughly entertained, with Lynn remarking that she was very impressed with the quality of magic on display and that it was more than parlour tricks.

Local Government Reorganisation Survey Now Live!

Local Government Reorganisation

In the biggest shake-up of local government in over 50 years, nine councils across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire have launched a county-wide survey for people to share their views on what matters most to help shape new authorities’ priorities.

Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) will mean moving away from the current two-tier system of having both district and county councils.

2 core options are being considered, but no final decision has been made, and more options could be considered.

All nine councils in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire are working together.

Initial proposals for LGR were submitted to Government in March and final proposals are due to be submitted by 28 November.

Find out more and share your views at

LGR Survey

The survey closes on 14 September.
