Friday18, Roots, Kimberley, Friday 18 July

Don’t forget to join us at Roots in Kimberley tonight at 6pm, where singer/songwriter Ben Mark Smith will be entertaining us all with an hour of amazing live music for the Kimberley edition of Friday18.

We can’t wait, see you there!

Tonight in Beeston, Swing Chickens arrive in Beeston Square at 6pm for an hour of jazz, punk, and folk.

Broxtowe Parks Earn Green Flag Recognition

Broxtowe Mayor with Environment Team and Friends of Colliers Wood

Five sites in Broxtowe proudly wave their Green Flag Awards, showcasing the high quality of the green spaces.

Managed by Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, the Green Flag Awards are the international mark of quality for parks and open spaces. A Green Flag is a sign to the public that the space boasts very high standards, is well maintained and has good facilities. 

Sites across the Borough that received a Green Flag award include:

  • Bramcote Hills Park
  • Colliers Wood Local Nature Reserve

Community Green Flag (Awarded to Community Groups):

  • Alexandrina Plantation and Sandy Lane Open Spaces Nature Reserves – Friends of Bramcote Ridge
  • Brinsley Headstocks – The Friends of Brinsley Headstocks
  • Bramcote Old Church Tower

Summer Play Days are just around the corner!

2025 Play Days

Only a couple of weeks to go until our free summer Play Days series begins!

Get ready for four fantastic free events across Broxtowe! We’ll have circus skills workshops, a pop up D.H. Lawrence Museum, community stalls, and much more! Which day will you be joining us?

Nuthall – Wednesday 30 July, 12pm-4pm, Basil Russell Park, NG16 1EJ.

• Chilwell - Tuesday 5 August, 12pm-4pm, Inham Nook Recreation Ground, NG9 4GY.

• Eastwood – Thursday 7 August, 12pm-4pm, Coronation Park, NG16 3LQ.

• Stapleford - Monday 11 August, 12pm-4pm, Ilkeston Road Recreation Ground, NG9 8JL.

Exciting news for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire!

The Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Climate Network has a brand-new website and a fresh identity to match the growing collaboration across the region.

Supported by energy charities and a collective of all 19 local Councils, this network is spotlighting inspiring community projects and empowering people to take meaningful climate action.

The new website is now live! Your go-to resource for local success stories, real-world solutions, and ways to get involved.

Green Festival – Call for Car Booters

Plans for this year’s Green Festival on 20 September 12pm-3pm at Coronation Park, Eastwood are well underway. Over 25 stalls are already booked to attend all can be found on the dedicated webpage Green Festival, and a variety of free activities will be on offer for visitors including those listed below:

  • Face Painting
  • Preloved clothes, toys, books.
  • Energy Saving Advice
  • Sewing repairs
  • Bike repairs

New for 2025 is the offering of car boot pitches, encouraging the reuse of items, like the saying goes ‘one man’s trash is another man’s treasure’. These spaces are open to all on a first come, first served basis.
