Domestic CCTV and Doorbell Cameras

left image - person pressing doorbell camera and right image person installing a white camera in the corner

Tenants and Leaseholders must ask for permission before installing CCTV/Doorbell Cameras.

Doorbell cameras are classed as domestic CCTV. If you have one, you are responsible for following the GDPR and privacy laws for anything you capture outside of your boundary (including neighbourhood properties, pavements and roads). We recommend you putting up a sign to inform anyone that comes onto your property that they are being filmed.

If permission is granted, you would be subject to these conditions:

  • All cameras/equipment are installed at your own expense, and all subsequent maintenance costs will be your responsibility
  • You may need to use a certified Electrician to install wired cameras
  • The Council can request that you remove the items at any time, and failure to do so would be a breach of your tenancy agreement/lease.

If you have any questions or queries about CCTV or other recording devices, please visit the

Information Commissioner’s Website

Independent Living Open Days

three people talk infront of a table with information about broxtowe borough council housing

Thank you for everyone that came down to the Independent Living Open Days last month, we hope it was useful.

The Lettings team received a range of questions and one that was asked the most was:

Q) Do you have to live in Broxtowe to apply for our Independent Living properties?

A) No, unlike with our General Needs properties, you do not have to have lived or worked in the borough for 3 of the past 5 years. Anybody 60+ can apply. If you are between 45-59, you can be considered if you have a degree of disability that makes your present home unsuitable, and you would need to evidence this.

However, this does not apply to Bungalows.

Loneliness Awareness Week

Loneliness Poster

Loneliness Awareness Week is all about creating supportive communities by having open, honest conversations.

Loneliness is a natural human emotion - we are hardwired to need social connections. By talking about it, we can support ourselves and others.

Meeting Loneliness Together, this year's theme, is all about reducing the stigma around this emotion.

Find an activity on the Connection Map, or make an account and upload your own. From coffee mornings and book clubs, to walking clubs and art workshops, there are so many ways to take part in Loneliness Awareness Week.

Did you know we have a Community Fund that our Housing customers can apply for?

We have been receiving applications from local residents and community groups. If you know of anyone with an idea for small-scale projects that benefit the Council’s Housing customers and the communities they live within, send them our way.

Eastwood Explorers received funding for a litter pick walk last month to coincide with National Walking Month.
