Hemlock Happening 2025: Call for sponsors, traders, and community groups
The Hemlock Happening is back for 2025 with a special celebration to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day, and we are looking for sponsors, traders, and community stalls!
Last year’s event saw 9,000 people flock to the scenic Bramcote Hills Park for a day filled with family fun, entertainment, and community spirit.
Taking place on Saturday 7 June, the event will feature community stalls, charities, arts and crafts traders, an interactive Army experience, classic vintage cars, dance performances and field activities from 1pm – 6pm, as well as food, fairground rides and live music from 1pm – 10:30pm, rounded off with a spectacular firework finale.
If you are interested in sponsoring the event or having a stall, please contact the Events Team at events@broxtowe.gov.uk or submit an application using the forms below.

Broxtowe Borough Council hosts Climate Change Forum!
A huge thank you to everyone that attended our Climate Change Forum yesterday! It was an inspiring day of collaboration, fresh ideas, and real action towards a greener, more sustainable future for our community. From local initiatives to regional expert insights, we’re proud to see so much commitment for protecting our planet.
A special thank you to our Environment Team, especially our Climate Change Manager Sarah Robertson for hosting, to all the partners who helped make this event happen, and to The Walled Garden at Beeston Fields for accommodating the event!
Free training ‘How to Work with People, Especially Young People’ available for volunteers

The training consists of two sessions; attendees must be available to attend both sessions. Details are as follows:
- Date: Wednesday 19 and Wednesday 26 March.
- Time: 10am – 3pm.
- Location: Broxtowe Borough Council, Foster Avenue, Beeston, NG9 1AB.
Council Tax bills are on the way
Council Tax bills are making their way out, which means the Council’s contact centre will be busier than normal and residents may find it harder to get through on the phone.
Here are some ways you might be able to save time if the phone lines are busy:
The quickest and easiest way to pay is by direct debit. Download the mandate form at www.broxtowe.gov.uk/paycounciltax
If you can’t pay by direct debit, you can pay online at www.broxtowe.gov.uk/estore
You can also pay via the automated payment line on Freephone 0300 013 2484.
If you need further support paying your bill, please visit www.broxtowe.gov.uk/costofliving or speak to a member of our team.
Network event will celebrate the volunteers who keep rural community buildings open
Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire (RCAN) is excited to invite community hall representatives to their Annual Network Event, where they will be celebrating both Village Halls Week and the incredible impact of the Broxtowe SAY Now Project! The Broxtowe SAY Now programme has been funded with UK Shared Prosperity Funding from the UK Government, through a £16,000 grant from Broxtowe Borough Council.
This special event will take place on Wednesday, March 19, from 10am to 1.30pm at Trowell Parish Hall in Broxtowe.
Rugby club gives local young people a head start in construction
Broxtowe Borough Council’s grant of £19,875 has allowed Volunteer It Yourself (VIY) to help refurbish Nottingham Casuals Rugby Club in Beeston after the club house suffered flood damage earlier this year. VIY provides training opportunities to young people who are not in employment, education or training, and this project has allowed 16 young people to gain a construction related qualification. The grant was made possible through UK Shared Prosperity Funding (UKSPF) from the UK Government.
