New Play and Fitness Areas Now Open at Pasture Road Recreation Ground, Stapleford
On Saturday 29 October at 11.30am the Mayor of Broxtowe, Councillor David Grindell officially opened the new play and fitness areas at Pasture Road Recreation Ground in Stapleford.
The play area will benefit young people from the surrounding area, providing a safe place for outdoor play and exercise.
Young footballers from Pegasus Football Clubs’ under 7’s and under 8’s teams were there to put the new equipment to the test and meet the Mayor of Broxtowe. Pasture Road Recreation Ground also serves as the home ground of Pegasus, who have been based there since 1980. The Pegasus youth teams and clubs’ local connections were invaluable during the consultation phase of the project, which received almost 300 completed questionnaires from local people.

Stapleford marketing agency on the up thanks to Recovery Fund grant
A Stapleford marketing agency is growing thanks to a grant that has helped it diversify its business.
Bloody Marketing, which offers full-service marketing to commercial businesses, really struggled during the pandemic with many of its clients cutting their marketing budgets as times got tough.
With the help of a £5,000 grant from the Town Centre Recovery Fund, the firm, based at the Stapleford Business Hub on Toton Lane, has been able to purchase equipment to offer a new digital service to its clients, 360-degree virtual tours, which helps businesses show their customers around their premises from the comfort of their own home.
Remembrance Sunday - 13 November
The annual Remembrance Sunday commemorations are a significant event in the Borough’s calendar, which allows us all the opportunity to pay tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
We understand that some disappointment was felt within the community following last year’s event in Beeston.
We would like to reassure you that we have been working with local community groups and partners, including the Royal British Legion, Police, local Army Barracks and uniformed organisations, for several months to ensure that our Remembrance commemorations for 2022 are befitting of this important occasion.
This will include a full parade and service at the war memorial, followed by a service at Beeston Parish Church for those who wish to join us.
Please be aware that whilst road closures will be in place, they are there to facilitate the parade and we kindly ask you not to gather on the road.
If you are attending the event as a wheelchair user, please speak to a member of our events team who will be able to guide you to our accessible viewing area.
Services and events will also be taking place at other locations across the Borough – please contact your local Town or Parish Council for details.
Help Shape Our Budget
We have to set a budget that balances the needs of the community with the money we have available to spend through income and grants.
Your views on how our services are performing and how we maintain these services with the money we have available is an integral part of our decision making.
The survey closes on Wednesday 30th November.
Respondents who provide their name and contact information will be entered into a prize draw to win one of 6 £50 Love2Shop.

The Mayor's Civic Service 2022
Sunday 30th October saw a wonderful turn out for the Mayor’s Civic Service at St Helen’s in Stapleford.
It included readings by Leader of the Council, Councillor Milan Radulovic MBE, Leader of the Opposition, Councillor Richard Jackson and Chief Executive Ruth Hyde OBE.
Reverend Paul Savage gave a thought provoking address on who and what we want to be as both an individual and a community. Thanks to all those who attended.
Chainsaw sculptures
Did you know that there are six chainsaw sculptures across our parks and open spaces?
The sculptures have all been created by local chainsaw sculptor, Peter Leadbeater to represent each sites history or the natural environment.
They have also been created using trees which have been felled due to being dangerous or diseased as a sustainable to reuse the natural environment to create living artwork.
You can find the sculptures at the following locations:
- Inham Nook Recreation Ground
- Colliers Wood Local Nature Reserve
- Hall Om Wong Open Space
- Toton Fields Nature Reserve
- Dovecote Lane Recreation Ground (currently undergoing repair)
- Watnall Spinney
There is also a sculpture at Brinsley Headstocks which has a timeline from the bottom up, 700 years of coal mining history with the site then rising from the ashes of its industrial past (A Phoenix reference, DH Lawrence’s father worked at the pit) into a wildlife site, with the FOBH carved in as branches with wildlife reach above.
Why not complete your own sculpture trail to see if you can spot them all?
