Message from the Mayor of Broxtowe
''I have been humbled by the way our community has come together during this national mourning period and by the floral tributes and condolence messages which have been left in honour of Her Majesty, The Queen.
During her 70 year reign, The Queen was a beacon for civic service and public duty and her constant presence in our lives has provided a great comfort to many of us over the years. Her life was guided by her prayers, now God holds his hands around her for eternity.
Aside from her civic role, we must also remember Queen Elizabeth II, the wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and I wish to express my profound sadness and respect to the Royal Family at this time.
On Sunday 18th September at 8.00pm, there will be a national minute's silence to remember Her Majesty ahead of her funeral on Monday. I hope that you will join me in pausing for reflection during this time.
Following the conclusion of the National Mourning Period, Condolence Books will be closed and floral tributes will be taken to be composted to be used in our parks and open spaces.''
