FRIDAY18 – Live Music To Start Your Summer Evenings In Beeston

Live music will be on offer in Beeston town centre over the summer, showcasing local talented artists and performers.

‘FRIDAY18’ will see an hour of live music on the band stand from 18:00pm every Friday from 22 July until 26 August. 

The performances, which have been organised by Broxtowe Borough Council, have been designed to bring some summer ambience to the town for visitors before they head to some of the new restaurants, bars and cinema.

The Play days are back! Join us this August for family fun days packed with fun, arts and crafts, sports activities and much more.

Play Days are a popular feature in the Borough’s annual events calendar and are completely free to attend. This year the theme will be around celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Get discounted bus travel and combat climate change with Green Rewards!

Residents in Nottinghamshire can benefit from a 15% discount for adult and group day tickets on Nottingham City Transport (NCT) buses, plus be in with the chance to win a monthly NCT bus pass worth £60!

The partnership between Nottingham City Transport, all eight Nottinghamshire Councils and Nottinghamshire County Council is now available through the Notts Green Rewards programme – a website and mobile app free for everyone with Nottingham postcodes to enjoy.

The Notts Green Rewards programme incentivises residents to learn about and take action on climate change by reducing waste, shopping sustainably, encouraging local biodiversity and more! Residents earn points for their actions and, each month, there are £20 vouchers for the top performers - and now the chance to win a monthly NCT bus pass worth £60.

Thank you for helping Broxtowe stay cool

We would like to thank our residents that have been helping outdoor workers to stay cool, as well as office based workers who have worked through the heatwave to keep services running.

 

Curry house to get new look thanks to Stapleford Town Centre Recovery Fund

It’s been a tough few years for Indian restaurant Gurkha Nights, but the business is hoping to bounce back stronger than ever after securing £3,800 from the £1m Town Centre Recovery Fund.

The money will be used to help buy new furniture, improve the interior of the restaurant, and spruce up the external signage.  It will also be used to help with marketing to attract more customers.

The restaurant, on Nottingham Road, was hard hit by COVID and, while the takeaway side of the business is still going strong, the number of customers deciding to eat in is still down on pre-COVID levels.

Kimberley Market Statement

Unfortunately, we have taken the difficult decision to temporarily pause the Kimberley Market at the end of July for the next few months.

After a very successful launch in February, bringing stalls that local people wanted to see as part of the market, such as a fruit and veg stall, footfall has fallen drastically. 

We are not ruling out bringing the market back at a future date but the current weekly format is not working in a way which is viable for many of the traders to continue.
