Bin Collections and Opening Hours for Jubilee Bank Holiday Weekend
 You don't need to worry about your bins this Jubilee bank holiday weekend - there will be no changes and they will be emptied on your normal collection day between 2 – 5 June. You can find out more by viewing your bin calendar online.
On Thursday 2 June and Friday 3 June our Beeston Office will be closed - you can find out more on when Broxtowe Council Offices and leisure facilities will be open by visiting our Bank Holiday Opening Hours page.
Thank you for your donations
 Thank you to everyone that has donated to our Ukraine Appeal so far, we have raised over £1,500 and we’ve also had lots of donations of items from our wanted list such as blankets and dry foods.
If you haven’t already, you can still make a donation to the appeal through our JustGiving page, by cheque or you can donate an item to our Beeston Offices from our wanted list which you can find on our website.
All donations are going to our friendship town of Myszkow, Poland who are experiencing an influx of refugees, due to them being located close to the Ukrainian border.
Craft, Gift & Food Fair - 4 June
 If you’re looking for something to do over the extended Jubilee bank holiday weekend, our monthly Craft, Gift and Food Fair is taking place this Saturday, 4 June, at Beeston Square between 10am and 4pm.
There will be independent traders selling a wide variety of products, from delicious baked goods to quality handmade products. This Saturday you can expect to see:

UK Trini Drinks – Carribean rum punch and ponche de creme
Rainbows and ribbons – Quality crafts and handmade cushions

How to access healthcare during the Bank Holiday weekend
 To make it easy for people to access healthcare services over the Queen's Jubilee bank holiday weekend, NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire have made extra appointments available online for residents to book if they are feeling unwell.
If you experience a medical problem during the bank holiday weekend, you can book an appointment via 111 online or call 111 and you will be able to receive advice from trained advisors who will help you to get a GP appointment, direct you to an Urgent Treatment Centre, or your A&E if needed.
Join in '30 Days Wild' this June
 Today marks the start of The Wildlife Trusts 30 Days Wild, which asks everyone to do one wild thing every day throughout June. Get outside, get closer to nature and feel better – you can even get a free pack to help you at https://www.wildlifetrusts.org/30dayswild.
Why not get out over the Jubilee bank holiday? You could visit some of Broxtowe’s Local Nature Reserves which you can find at https://www.broxtowe.gov.uk/localnaturereserves. Or later this month at Colliers Wood in Moorgreen, Nottinghamshire a BioBlitz will be taking place to try and identify as much of the flora and fauna on site as possible.
This is a free to enter activity, all part of a Green Festival taking place on site 12pm-3pm, where you can find out about all things green in Broxtowe, from biodiversity and conservation to recycling and carbon reduction.
Don’t worry if you aren’t an expert in identification, there will be experts available to assist and a simpler spotting quiz to help identify common plants and animals. All finds will be entered onto the Nature Counts database to help build up a picture of how well wildlife is doing in the County.
Grant funding secures healthier future for Stapleford food outlet
A town centre takeaway food business is able to secure its future thanks to a £5,000 grant from the Town Centre Recovery Fund.
Like many businesses, the pandemic was hard for family-owned Sun Shine Fish and Chicken on Derby Road, and the rise in the price of oil and a lack of availability of oil has been a real worry.
The marketplace has also changed with more demand from local people for healthier options.
