Mental Health Awareness Week
This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, which takes place every May to help people better understand the impact of mental illness and mental health issues. This year's theme is loneliness.
One way we can manage loneliness is by keeping busy and doing things we enjoy. This might be a hobby such as a bit of gardening, going to the gym or even sorting out your kitchen cupboards, jigsaws, puzzles or knitting.
You can help a family member or friend who is feeling lonely simply by listening to them. People who have experienced loneliness really value friends who really considered what they might enjoy and were even willing to join them in some shared activities.
Business Hub Opens In Stapleford
Nine businesses can now benefit from office space in Stapleford’s new hub. Former Mayor of Broxtowe, Councillor Richard MacRae, officially opened the Stapleford Business Hub earlier this week.
The facility provides an opportunity for new or expanding businesses to have an official office space in which to grow, right in the heart of Stapleford.

Walk To School Week - 16-20 May
Walk to school week is happening between 16-20 May. This week is dedicated to helping kids stay active and reach their minimum of 60 minutes of physical activity per day.
Whether you’re a parent or teacher you can get your child or pupil involved in Walk To School Week through Living Streets' #PowerUp Challenge in which video games are used to inspire physical activity.
At Broxtowe Borough Council we encourage walking to school as you will reduce your carbon footprint as well as staying fit. As part of our Green Futures incentive we recommend that our residents engage in active travel more often to cut carbon and create a greener borough for everyone - you can find out more about Green Futures via our Climate Change webpage.
