The 'Happy To Chat' Bench At Colliers Wood

happytochat

A new bench has recently been installed at Colliers Wood, Newthorpe, close to the large pond. This is a Happy To Chat Bench and has been installed in response to a cry for help from a visitor to the site.

The idea is that when sitting on the bench you are making it known to other visitors to the site that you are happy to have a chat. This could be because you are feeling a little lonely and would like some company, are a sociable person and would just like to talk, or that you need somebody to listen to any concerns you may have.

The seat is made from recycled plastic with Happy To Chat Bench inscribed on one of the slats so it can be read from both the back and the front.

We hope many of our residents can enjoy the benefits of this.

Community Garden Week 2022

community garden

This year's Community Garden Week will take place between 4 April - 10 April 2022.

Community Garden Week allows us to celebrate the amazing community gardens across Broxtowe and how they bring together and inspire residents. Here's how you can get involved:

Visit a Broxtowe community garden - By simply visiting a local community garden with friends and family you are supporting community gardens across Broxtowe. Take a walk, unwind, have a chat and enjoy the beauty of nature - consider taking a trip to Incredible Edible's community garden in Beeston.

Send us a photo of your garden - Community gardens come in all different sizes, styles and shapes, but they all have the ability to bring people together through the power of nature. We want to see photos of your best kept gardens - it could be your garden, communal garden, allotment, balcony or any other spot you like to potter.

Send us photos via email or social media:

Bowel Cancer is also the UK’s second biggest cancer killer, however it shouldn’t be because it’s treatable and curable especially if diagnosed early. Nearly everyone survives Bowel Cancer if diagnosed at the earliest stage but this drops significantly as the disease develops.
