Meet Our Broxtowe Green Rewards Winners!
At Broxtowe we have been excited to learn about the experience of two of our Green Rewards winners and how the platform helps them to find it easy, engaging and fun to reduce their carbon footprint!
We were lucky enough to meet with top Green Points earner Sarah Brennan and raffle winner John Scottow along with the Mayor of Broxtowe, Councillor Richard MacRae. Both winners were awarded a £20 voucher for their efforts to combat climate change and this can be spent at a place of their choosing – John chose Marks and Spencer and Sarah is still deciding.
Both Sarah and John recommend the platform as an excellent way to encourage people to live more sustainably. Sarah enjoys the Green Rewards app as she finds it easy to log her activities whilst travelling between cities for work.
Councillor Richard MacRae said “It was great to meet Sarah and John who were the recent winners of our Green Rewards programme prizes. I’d like to thank both of them for their efforts and for taking part in the programme. If we all make a few little changes to “think greener” in our daily lives it will make a huge difference in the Council’s attempt to tackling climate change across the Borough.”
Want to join Sarah, John and hundreds of others in making a difference and getting rewarded for your positive actions? Sign up to Green Rewards for free today - you can also download the mobile app through the Apple store or Google Play Store – search for ‘Notts; Green Rewards’.
The Great British Spring Clean 2022
For the seventh year running, the Great British Spring Clean is currently taking place until 10 April.
This year the name of the campaign is #BigBagChallenge and the aim is simple - pick up as much litter as you can!
Pledging to take part in the Great British Spring Clean couldn't be easier - simply pledge to pick up as much litter as you can. You can pledge as an individual, a group or a school.
If you would like to arrange a litter pick for the Great British Spring Clean, please get in touch with the details of your planned litter picking event to depot@broxtowe.gov.uk - we will then check the availability of equipment and provide a risk assessment. Please be aware that if you are a community group taking part in the Spring Clean it will be your responsibility to carry out a risk assessment.
Refuse Team Visits Awsworth Primary School To Promote Recycling
Earlier this month, one of our Refuse Teams visited Awsworth Primary School to attend an arranged visit with the nursery children and teaching staff, with the aim of promoting recycling to our younger residents.
The children were equipped with hi-vis jackets and were able to watch the bins being emptied, whilst being told about the importance of recycling, they were also able to sit inside the refuse vehicle (a new horn may be needed!).
A big thank you to Awsworth School.
