Remembrance Sunday 14 November
The pandemic has impacted on event programmes around the world and this year’s Remembrance Services are no exception.
Broxtowe Borough Council has taken a very cautious approach to large-scale events over the past months. The health, wellbeing and safety of our communities is of upmost importance and at the time of booking and planning Remembrance Day the Government advice was to not encourage large mass gatherings with unpredictable numbers.
Unfortunately, this means that there will be no parade in Beeston on Sunday. There will be an invite-only wreath laying ceremony at 11am which will be live-streamed on our Facebook page followed by a short church service for invited guests.
Residents are politely requested not to gather at the Beeston war memorial at 11.00am and are asked to participate in the act of Remembrance from home. Members of the Public are more than welcome to pay their respects after the event.
Some other Parish Councils are organising parades if you wish to participate in Eastwood, Stapleford and Kimberley.
As a Council we do appreciate the disappointment this may cause and ask that people are understanding of a difficult decision we felt was the right thing to do.
We have opened an online Book of Remembrance should you wish to leave a message on our website.
Nott Alone
Lots of young people struggle with mental health worries, whether it’s things like anxiety, bullying, or eating problems and bereavement issues.
To help young people who are experiencing these issues and more, Nottinghamshire County Council have helped create a brand new website called Nott Alone, which offers help, advice and guidance tailored for young people. The website also offers advice for parents, carers or professionals who are supporting young people with mental health concerns.
Nottinghamshire County Council have worked together with young people, their parents and carers, and professionals at Nottingham City Council, NHS trusts and other partners, to help bring a range of mental health advice and help for young people together in one place, because collectively we want to make a real difference to young people’s lives.

Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy
The South Nottinghamshire Homelessness Partnership (Broxtowe Borough Council, Gedling Borough Council and Rushcliffe Borough Council) have worked together to develop a draft Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy.
The strategy aims to build on the priorities and progress made in the preceding strategy. To enable us to respond to the new and emerging challenges that we face in tackling homelessness in South Nottinghamshire.
Do you think this strategy will be enough to support the homeless? Complete our survey to have your say at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/homelessnessstrategy
The consultation will close Monday 6th December.
