Don't forget self isolation rules have changed

changed rules

On Monday 16th August the rules on self-isolated changed.

Those who come into close contact of positive COVID-19 cases will no longer need to self-isolate if they are either:

  • Double jabbed
  • Under 18

Instead you should take a free PCR test- book online, call 119 or visit a test site.

Anyone who tests positive following the PCR test will still be legally required to self-isolate, irrespective of their vaccination status or age in order to break onward chains of transmission.

Meanwhile anyone who develops COVID-19 symptoms should self-isolate and get a PCR test, and remain in isolation until the result comes back.

A life-saving defibrillator has been installed on Central Avenue in Beeston with the help of local Councillors Steve and Barbara Carr, in partnership with the Community Heartbeat Trust (CHT).

Take part in our Broxtowe Community and Voluntary Sector Survey

We have launched our Broxtowe Community and Voluntary Sector Survey. Our Broxtowe Community and Voluntary Sector (CVS) Task and Finish Group have been tasked with writing a CVS strategy for Broxtowe.

To help shape and inform the strategy we want as much input as possible from groups across the Borough, so that we can find out how we can continue to best support these groups within our community.

If you are part of a Community or Voluntary organisation you can complete our online survey.

The survey is open until Sunday 5th September.

Don't forget to confirm if your child is staying in full-time education

HMRC

HMRC is reminding parents and carers that they have until 31 August 2021, to confirm whether their teenagers are staying in full-time education or training beyond the age of 16.

HMRC has sent reminder letters to families receiving Child Benefit for their child in the last year of school or home education. If your child is staying in education beyond age 16, parents or carers must notify HMRC by the end of August, or their Child Benefit will be stopped.

It is quick and easy to update Child Benefit records via GOV.UK. Alternatively, parents or carers can return the 297b form sent to them by HMRC.

Self-isolating

If you develop symptoms of COVID-19, stay at home and self-isolate immediately. If you have a positive test result but do not have symptoms, stay at home and self-isolate as soon as you receive the results. Your household needs to isolate too.
