Leader of the Council's Statement on Moving to Step 4

Leader of the Council, Milan Radulovic

The Leader of the Council has issued the following statement on moving to Step 4 on the Roadmap.

Leader of Broxtowe Borough Council, Milan Radulovic, said: "Whilst we welcome the move to Step 4 on the Roadmap, we are concerned about rising cases in the Borough and we want to encourage people to be cautious in public spaces and urge people to come forward and get vaccinated.

People are now legally allowed to use public transport and go to shops without wearing a face covering, so I am asking people to use their common sense and choose whether they think they should continue to wear a face covering in public places where social distancing is difficult. This will help to protect not only ourselves, but also those around us.

Everyone over the age of 18 is able to receive their vaccination. If you have not yet come forward I would encourage you to do so. The vaccine offers a greater protection against the virus.”

Let's Keep Life Moving

Lets keep life moving

On Monday England moved to Step 4 on the Roadmap, meaning that most legal restrictions to control COVID-19 have been lifted.

This means:

  • You do not have to stay 2 metres apart from people you do not live with.
  • There no limits on the number of people you can meet.
  • The requirement to wear face coverings in law has been lifted.
  • The Government is so longer instructing people to work from home if they can.
  • There are no longer restrictions on group sizes for attending communal worship.

However, COVID-19 cases are still increasing in our area so to help manage the spread and to keep us moving forward it is advised to:

  • Meet outdoors where possible and let fresh air in to homes or other enclosed spaces.
  • The Government expects and recommends that people wear face coverings in crowded areas such as public transport.
  • You should limit the close contact you have with those you do not usually live with, and increase close contact gradually. This includes minimising the number, proximity and duration of social contacts.

Self-Isolating

It is still a legal requirement to self-isolate if you are told to do so by NHS Test and Trace

Although restrictions have been lifted this week, you must still continue to self isolate if you are told to do so by NHS Test & Trace.

Walk-in Vaccination Clinics

Let's get vacinated

Vaccinated people are far less likely to get serious COVID-19, be admitted to hospital, or die from it.

Nottinghamshire walk-in clinics are open for first and second doses for anyone aged 18 and over.

Two jabs are better than one and you can get your second dose after 8 weeks.

You can see locations and times on the NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG webiste.

Bin Collection Update

Wheelie bins

Since Monday 19 July, unfortunately we have had to suspend our glass, garden waste, missed bins collection services as well as bin repairs/deliveries. This has allowed us to maintain the key residual and recycling services as planned which are our priority services.

On Saturday 24 July we will be working to try and catch up on missed residual/recycling collections. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to undertake any kerbside garden waste or glass collections.

Any suspended glass and garden waste services will now be collected on the next scheduled collection so please return any bins left out back onto your property.

If any services continue to be affected from Monday 26 July we will update residents accordingly.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you and thank you for your ongoing support during this very difficult time.

Eid Mubarak

Eid Mubarak please celebrate safely

If you are celebrating Eid al-Adha the advice is to do so safely by:

  • Maintaining space from others outside of your household where you can.
  • Letting fresh air into your home by opening doors and windows.
  • Washing your hands thoroughly and regularly
  • Testing twice weekly using lateral flow tests to check for COVID-19.

Eid Mubarak to our Muslim communities across Broxtowe.
