Euro 2020 - Guidance for businesses
It is important that businesses ensure screenings of Euro 2020 football matches are compliant with the current 'COVID-19 Secure' regulations, and that good management practices are in place together with an up to date risk assessment.
Non-compliance with the legislation may lead to enforcement action, which could include fixed penalty notices or even business closure.
Businesses MUST ensure:
- Customers continue to order, be served, eat and drink whilst seated both indoors and out. This includes viewing of the matches;
- Social distancing measures for table and chairs and the wearing of face coverings by customers, staff and visitors where not seated;
Further guidance for businesses can be found by clicking 'Euro 2020' below.
Test and Trace in businesses, venues and other settings
The following establishments must collect contact details of all customers, visitors and staff (over the age of 16) on their premises for the purpose of Test and Trace by law:
-
hospitality businesses, including all pubs, bars, restaurants and cafés;
-
tourism and leisure venues, including hotels, museums, cinemas and amusement arcades;
-
close contact businesses, including hairdressers, barbershops and tailors;
- community centres, libraries and village halls;
All those listed above must hold records from all their customers and visitors for 21 days. This reflects the incubation period for COVID-19 (which can be up to 14 days) and an additional 7 days to allow time for testing and tracing. After 21 days, this information should be securely disposed of or deleted within GDPR guidelines.
Further detail on STEP 4
The Government has announced more details about STEP 4 of the Covid Recovery Roadmap, which is expected to be reached on Monday 19th July.
The decision to officially reach STEP 4 will be subject to a final review of the data next week and will be communicated on Monday 12th July.
Once England moves to STEP 4 of the Covid Recovery Roadmap, the Government will continue to manage the risk of serious illness from the spread of the virus.
To do this, the Government will follow 5 key principles which include:
-
Reinforcing the country’s vaccine wall of defence through booster jabs and driving take up.
-
Enabling the public to make informed decisions through guidance, rather than laws.
-
Retaining proportionate test, trace and isolate plans in line with international comparators.
-
Managing risks at the border and support a global response to reduce the risk of variants emerging globally and entering the UK.
-
Retaining contingency measures to respond to unexpected events, while accepting that further cases, hospitalisations and deaths will occur as the country learns to live with COVID-19.
Links to all the current guidance can be found via the Council's 'Open For Business' webpage. Any new guidance for businesses will also published, in response to further official government communications, including press conferences.
