Grab Your Jab This Weekend Without Booking
 Walk-in COVID-19 jabs are available this weekend in Nottingham and Mansfield – and anyone currently eligible is invited!
All those eligible for their COVID-19 vaccine will be able to receive a Pfizer vaccine at Forest Recreation Ground Recreation Site, Gregory Boulevard, Nottingham, NG7 6HB, or Mansfield Vaccination Centre, 134 Chesterfield Road, NG19 7AP.
Those currently eligible include any member of the public aged 25 and over as well as those who are clinically vulnerable, clinically extremely vulnerable and carers.
The sites will be open from 8am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday offering walk-in appointments to anyone eligible for their first dose.
Amanda Sullivan, Accountable Officer for NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG, said: “By having these two sites open to walk-in appointments across the weekend we hope that lots of people will hear about the offer and decide to get their jab.
“The process will be quick and easy and there will be no need to book an appointment. If you are eligible and have yet to book your first dose of the vaccine then please do come and get your jab over the weekend. I would urge the public to get down to the sites early if they would like to receive a vaccine.
“We know the rate of infection is increasing nationally and we are seeing increases in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire too. We have seen in the past that a few cases can very quickly lead to a big increase in community transmission. That is why it is important that we all get our vaccine and protect ourselves as soon as possible.”
Both the sites will be offering the Pfizer vaccine to any member of the public who is yet to have their first dose.
People Aged 25-29 Now Invited To Book Their Vaccine
 Earlier this week on Tuesday 8th June people aged 25-29 were invited to book their COVID-19 vaccine.
The NHS saw more than one million bookings for a COVID-19 vaccine, which is a record high.
A total of 1,082,596 first and second doses were snapped up across the day online and by phone.
That's around 45,000 an hour on average, and more than 750 every minute, over the full 24 hours.
Thank you to all of our residents who have booked their vaccination so far!
Euro 2020 - Guidance for Businesses
 Many businesses in Broxtowe may be planning to screen the upcoming Euro 2020 football matches at premises over the coming weeks.
It is important that businesses ensure screenings are compliant with the current 'COVID-19 Secure' regulations, and that good management practices are in place together with an up to date risk assessment.

Stay Safe In The Heat
 With temperatures set to soar over the weekend, health bosses have also urged the public to prepare for the heat by wearing a hat, putting on suncream and bringing water if they are planning on coming down to get their vaccine as people may have to queue.
The main risks posed by a heatwave are:
- not drinking enough - water dehydration
- overheating, which can make symptoms worse for people who already have problems with their heart or breathing
- heat exhaustion and heatstroke
Make sure you stay safe this weekend by:
- Drinking plenty of fluids
- Try to keep out of the sun between 11am and 3pm
- Avoid exercising in the hottest parts of the day
- Look out for those who struggle to keep themselves cool and hydrated

Plans to transform Stapleford town centre have been given the go ahead by the Government, following this week's announcement that the town is to receive £21.1million funding as part of the Towns Fund initiative.

Broxtowe receives White Ribbon accreditation
White Ribbon is a global campaign that encourages people, especially men and boys, to individually and collectively take action and change the behaviour and culture that leads to abuse and violence. To wear a white ribbon is to promise to never to commit, excuse or remain silent about male violence against women.

Pasture Road Recreation Ground Survey
As part of the Pride in Parks initiative we have some capital funding available and are working to submit a bid for additional grant funding to refurbish the play area on the Pasture Road Recreation Ground at Stapleford.
We have put together a survey as we would like your thoughts on this and possible further improvements to the park, including adult fitness.
The deadline to complete the survey is 30th June at 5.00pm.

'Rescue' at Hemlock Stone
If you noticed the police and fire service presence at Bramcote Hills Park or the Hemlock Stone on Monday don’t worry, they were there to carry out training for emergency rescue, in agreement with Broxtowe Borough Council.
The watch manager from Highfields Station thanked the Council for the use of the space and commented “The exercise went really well and highlighted some learning points and some good practices. The exercise was based around a report of a person being injured around the Hemlock Stone park area.
The objective of the exercise was to test collaborative working between Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, Nottinghamshire Police and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service. Nottinghamshire Police assisted with the use of the drone to search for the casualty.
Once the casualty had been located the fire and rescue service rescued the casualty by rope rescue operators. Training events involving our partner agencies prove highly beneficial in relation to collaborative work and our efficiency working together in all situations.”

Self-isolating
If you develop symptoms of COVID-19, stay at home and self-isolate immediately. If you have a positive test result but do not have symptoms, stay at home and self-isolate as soon as you receive the results. Your household needs to isolate too.
