Keep following the guidelines
Restrictions have been eased following the move to Step 3, however it is still important to exercise caution and follow the COVID-19 guidelines.
Jonathan Gribbin, Public Health Director for Nottinghamshire explains in his video message to residents how important it is to continue our efforts to protect each other from COVID-19.
Even if you have been vaccinated against COVID-19, you should still continue to follow all of the guidance to help protect yourself, friends, family and our community.
Please remember to carry on wearing a face covering when indoors, such as shops and on public transport, unless you are exempt.
You should continue to minimise the number of people you meet within a short period of time to limit the risk of spreading COVID-19.
Rapid lateral flow tests are still available and free to anybody without symptoms. Testing twice a week will help make sure you don't have COVID-19, reducing the risk to those around you.
If you have symptoms you should continue to get a PCR test and self isolate if you test positive.

Calling all 34s and over to get vaccinated
 If you're aged 34 or over, or if you turn 34 before 1 July 2021, you can now book your COVID-19 vaccine.
You can only use this service if any of the following apply:
- you're aged 34 or over
- you'll turn 34 before 1 July 2021
- you're at high risk from COVID-19 (clinically extremely vulnerable)
- you have a condition that puts you at higher risk (clinically vulnerable)
- you have a learning disability
- you're a frontline health or social care worker
- you get a Carer's Allowance, get support following an assessment by your local authority or your GP record shows you're a carer
You can book your appointment through the national booking system or by calling 119.
Most vulnerable to receive second vaccine earlier
The country’s most vulnerable are to be offered their second COVID-19 vaccine earlier, the government has announced.
Appointments for a second dose of a vaccine will be brought forward from 12 to 8 weeks for the remaining people in the top 9 priority groups who have yet to receive their second dose. This is to ensure people across the UK have the strongest possible protection from the virus at an earlier opportunity.
People should continue to attend their second dose appointments and nobody needs to contact the NHS. The NHS will let those who should bring their appointment forward know, when they are able to do so.
Walk-in COVID-19 vaccination appointments available
 If you are aged 40 - 49 and not yet received your COVID-19 vaccination, walk-in appointments for your first dose are available at the following sites:
- Forest Rec Ground
- King’s Meadow Campus
- Gamston Community Centre
- Ashfield Health Village
- Newark Showground
- Richard Herrod Centre
- Mansfield Vaccination Centre
No booking is required.
Other news
Agreement reached on the future of Kimberley Leisure Centre
An agreement has been reached between Broxtowe Borough Council and East Midlands Education Trust (EMET) over the future of Kimberley Leisure Centre, following a period of negotiations.
The agreement will see:
- EMET take control of the letting and maintenance of the two 5-a-side pitches, which will remain available for members of the public to hire.
- Access to internal facilities including the dance studio and swimming pool are retained by the Council for local residents to make use of until April 2022.
Arc Cinema Grand Opening
There is now a week to go until The Arc Cinema, Beeston finally opens its doors on Friday 28th May!
Here's a first look into their Hypersense screen 2, how comfortable do those fabulous reclining, leather seats look? However, there's no danger of nodding off when you're surrounded with Dolby Atmos immersive sound and 4k laser projection.
We ran a competition this week to give out 5x pairs of tickets for The Arc Cinema Grand Opening event and have now contacted all of our winners. If you entered the competition make sure you check your email to see if you're a winner!

Performance Summary
We have put together a performance summary to highlight to you the progress that has been made on the Council's Corporate Plan.

The Beeston Social is coming
The Beeston Social is a new indoor entertainment leisure venue and will be a part of The Arc Cinema development.
Steve Carr, Deputy Leader at Broxtowe Borough Council said: "The venue will provide a significant boost to Beeston's leisure offer as well as creating new employment opportunities and I am sure this news will be welcomed by local residents and visitors."

Investment Consultation in Kimberley now open
Residents, workers and local businesses in Kimberley are being urged to have their say on what improvements they would like to see as part of the Government’s Levelling Up Fund, which will see up to £20m invested in the town.
The £4.8 billion Levelling Up Fund will invest in infrastructure that improves everyday life across the UK, including regenerating town centres and high streets, upgrading local transport, and investing in cultural and heritage assets.
Chair of the Jobs and Economic Committee, Councillor Tim Hallam said: “It’s important that we take up all opportunities to invest in our local area for the future, including taking advantage of possible funding like the Levelling Up Fund. If you’re a local resident, business or group, this is your chance to be part of that process and help determine future investment in Kimberley."

The Pudding Pantry is arriving in Beeston this weekend
The Pudding Pantry is set to open its doors this weekend in Beeston. Those unfamiliar with the name can look forward to brunches, afternoon tea or a very good cup of coffee.
The independent company is opening in a former pub - the Durham Ox - in High Road.
Beeston is the biggest and most ambitious opening so far for the couple behind the Pudding Pantry, with 26 tables inside and space for 18 customers outside.
Make sure you head down and support our local businesses, you won't be disappointed!

Support Available
Self-isolating
If you develop symptoms of Covid-19, stay at home and self-isolate immediately. If you have a positive test result but do not have symptoms, stay at home and self-isolate as soon as you receive the results. Your household needs to isolate too.

Financial support

The impact of the pandemic on you and your loved ones and not being able to enjoy all of the activities you would normally be involved in can all have an impact on your health. It is important to remember to look after yourself. If you have symptoms or a health concern you are worried about, please contact your GP practice. GP practices are still open and here for you. When you call your practice, you may be offered a consultation online or over the phone. If they feel they need to see you in person, they will invite you in for a face to face appointment.
