Business COVID-19 Updates

Step2

We're still at STEP 2

Until Monday 17th May, the country is still at STEP 2 of the Government's Covid Recovery Roadmap and therefore the restrictions associated with this step still apply under law.

Step3

Broxtowe to reach STEP 3 from next week

On Monday, the Prime Minister announced that the Government's four tests had been satisfied and that the country would officially reach STEP 3 from Monday 17th May.

By reaching STEP 3 of the Government's Covid Recovery Roadmap, the restrictions associated with that step will then apply under law.

Summary of changes at STEP 3

The main changes that will affect businesses and venues in Broxtowe from 17th May include:

  • Indoor entertainment and attractions will be permitted to re-open Covid-Securely;
  • A new 30 person limit outdoors;
  • 'Rule of 6' or two households will be permitted to meet socially indoors, which includes in Hospitality venues and will not require a 'substantial meal' to be ordered, although customers must continue to order, eat and drink while seated (‘table service’) only;
  • Indoor leisure facilities will be able to allow organised adult sport;
  • The remaining accommodation currently closed in STEP 2 will be permitted to re-open to facilitate domestic overnight stays.

Preparing for the changes from 17th May

Those preparing to re-open at STEP 3, are strongly advised to continue reviewing the Government's guidance packs for operating Covid-Securely. Links to all the latest guidance can be found via the Council's 'Open For Business' webpage.

Track and Trace App

Track and Trace in businesses, venues and other settings

Businesses and venues are reminded that the details of every customer and visitor aged 16 and over, and staff members must still be collected by law.

Details of a nominated contact covering an entire group cannot be accepted, instead every individual must provide their details to comply with Track and Trace.

Hospitality venues have additional requirements and must also take reasonable steps to refuse entry to anyone who refuses to participate. What is reasonable will depend on the type of venue and context in question. The venue should satisfy themselves that they have done all that could reasonably be expected to refuse entry.

Failure to comply with any of these requirements could result in fixed penalty fines.

Businesses and venues with outdoor seating areas

Details must still be collected for those sitting in outside areas, not just those choosing to sit indoors from STEP 3 (17th May 2021).

A reminder that all customers must order, eat and drink while seated (‘table service’) in hospitality settings, even in STEP 3.

How can people check into a venue?

Individuals can check in quickly and easily using the NHS COVID-19 app, to scan the unique NHS QR code poster, which must be prominently displayed by all premises that must comply with Track and Trace requirements by law.

Where a customer/visitor doesn't have a smartphone or can't access the NHS COVID-19 app, details can still be collected manually. All data must be collected and stored within GDPR guidelines.
