Keep following the rules across the Bank Holiday
 Make sure this Bank Holiday you are following Government guidelines and sticking to the rules.
- You can meet up to six people from any number of households (rule of 6) or two households can meet outdoors
- Keep washing your hands, making space, wearing face coverings inside and open windows where possible to let fresh in
- Get tested if you have symptoms and self-isolate
If you are visiting a pub with your friends this weekend make sure you are checking in with the NHS Track and Trace app.
Calling all over 40's to get the vaccine
 People aged 40 and over are now eligible to receive their COVID-19 vaccination.
To book an appointment please visit the online national booking system or by calling 119.
You can book an appointment if you fall under any of these following categories:
- you're aged 40 or over
- you'll turn 40 before 1 July 2021
- you're at high risk from COVID-19 (clinically extremely vulnerable)
- you have a condition that puts you at higher risk (clinically vulnerable
- you have a learning disability
- you're an eligible frontline health or social care worker
- you get a Carer's Allowance, get support following an assessment by your local authority or your GP record shows you're a carer
Our Community Testing Sites New Opening Hours
 Our Testing Community Sites are changing their opening hours.
From Monday 3rd May the Stapleford Library, Church Street testing site will be open as follows:
- Sundays and Mondays - CLOSED
- Tuesdays - 8am - 5pm
- Wednesdays - 7am - 5pm
- Thursdays - 8am - 5pm
- Fridays - 8am- 5pm
- Saturday 8.30am - 1pm
From Tuesday 4th May the Newdigate Street Car Park, Kimberley testing site will be open as follows:
- Tuesdays - 10am - 4.30pm
- Fridays - 10am - 4.30pm
The COVID vaccination bus is rolling into Beeston
The NHS COVID vaccination bus is coming to Beeston on Wednesday 5th May.
If you, or someone you know is eligible to get the jab then hop on the bus anytime between 10am and 1pm at Devonshire Avenue Car Park, Beeston, NG9 1BS.
There's no need to book, just turn up, vaccinations are first doses only.
If you know of anyone that has been struggling to make an appointment or get to a vaccination site, please encourage them to come and get their vaccine on the bus.
Other news
Bank Holiday Bin Collection
 Don't forget your bin collection days will change next week due to the Bank Holiday. Bins will have been collected as normal on Friday 30th April, but all other collections will be the day after your usual collection day.
Our customer service centre and council offices will be closed Bank Holiday Monday 3rd May and reopen Tuesday 4th May.
Have Your Say On The 6th May
 Broxtowe voters are being urged to make sure they are ready to take part in the County Council, Police and Crime Commissioner, Beeston Rylands, Stapleford South West Borough Wards and Brinsley Parish Council elections taking place next week.
Polling stations will be open from 7.00am to 10.00pm on Thursday 6th May and residents can only vote at the polling station stated on their own poll card. Some polling stations have changed this year so make sure you check before leaving to vote.
Elections will be slightly different this year due to COVID-19 so to make sure you vote safely, remember to wear your face covering, take your own pen or pencil and follow safety measures in place at polling stations such as floor markings and using hand sanitiser.
Bramcote Crematorium Awarded Gold For Its Caring Approach
Bramcote Crematorium employees have been awarded a Gold Award by the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management for their responsive and caring approach to helping bereaved families.
The accreditation has been awarded under the Charter for the Bereaved, a scheme run by the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management, which is the only recognised monitoring scheme for crematoria.

International Compost Week 2021
International Compost Week is taking place 2nd – 8th May and the theme is Grow, Eat…COMPOST…Repeat, in hope to empower us to recognise and promote the importance of composting and the use of compost in growing healthier food, supporting healthier soils and, ultimately, creating a more just and sustainable world.

Don't forget to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme
If you’re an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, you and your family can apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to continue living in the UK after 30th June 2021.
You can also apply if you’re the family member of an eligible person of Northern Ireland.
The EU Settlement Scheme is open. You can apply now if you meet the criteria.
The deadline for applying is 30 June 2021. You must have started living in the UK by 31 December 2020.

Be Water Aware
If you fall into cold water unexpectedly, your instinct is to try and swim - fight the water.
Cold water shock can also make you gasp, breathing in water and more likely to drown. If you float the initial effects of cold water shock can pass, you will regain control of your breathing. The best way to do this is to float on your back.
If you see somebody in trouble in water, please do not get in. Immediately ring 999.

Tree Planting - Nottingham Open Spaces Forum's People's Forest initiative
Stapleford Women’s Institute, working in partnership with Broxtowe Borough Council and in support of Earth Day 2021, planted an oak tree in Stapleford as part of Nottingham Open Spaces Forum's People's Forest initiative.
This initiative aims to encourage schools and community groups across the city and county to create a spiraling network of young trees linking back to the Major Oak at the heart of Sherwood Forest.
The tree planted was only a small ‘’minor oak’’ and was christened George to mark the planting on 23 April St George’s Day.
The event was organised by Heidi Platts Stapleford WI President with Sarah Manton, trustee of the People's Forest providing the tree. Heidi Platts, said, "we think this is such a lovely project to be involved in and it's so important to plant more trees and to regreen our spaces for future generations to enjoy". Members of the Stapleford WI will now water the tree over the summer as it aims to achieve the status of its parent tree in the future.

Self-isolating
If you develop symptoms of Covid-19, stay at home and self-isolate immediately. If you have a positive test result but do not have symptoms, stay at home and self-isolate as soon as you receive the results. Your household needs to isolate too.

The impact of the pandemic on you and your loved ones and not being able to enjoy all of the activities you would normally be involved in can all have an impact on your health. If you have symptoms or a health concern you are worried about, please contact your GP practice. GP practices are still open and here for you. When you call your practice, you may be offered a consultation online or over the phone. If they feel they need to see you in person, they will invite you in for a face to face appointment.
