New Homes on Oakfield Road

We have recently started construction on five x one bedroom flats on Oakfield Road in Stapleford for ex-service personnel, that will be ready in January 2022.

These new properties will be allocated via our waiting list and to be considered you must have an active housing application.

If you previously served in our Armed Forces and would be interested in being considered, please complete an application form now so that you application can be fully assessed. Applications can be completed at: https://www.broxtowe-home-search.org.uk/.

Buy Back Scheme

Do you have an ex-Council property that you would like to sell?

Since 1 April 2020, the Council have purchased 9 homes which consisted of 4 x 2-bed properties; 4 x 3-bed properties and 1 x 4-bed property.

This is to support the work of our Housing Delivery Plan to provide more homes for applicants on our waiting list. The Council will pay market value (as determined by an independent valuer) and are currently looking to buy properties within the areas of:

  • Brinsley
  • Cossall
  • Eastwood
  • Kimberley
  • Nuthall

Right to Buy Change

From the 6th April 2021, new applications for the Right to Buy will be entitled to a maximum discount of £84,600.

The discount does not apply to applications made before 6 April 2021.

Introductory Tenancy

Did you know that we have Introductory tenancies? 

An introductory tenancy is granted for a period of 12 months during which time you must meet with your Housing Officer at months one, four and nine to discuss the progress of your introductory tenancy.  

As long as the introductory tenancy is conducted in a satisfactory manner with no breaches of tenancy it shall become a secure tenancy after 12 months.

How to Pay Your Rent

You rent matters

Hopefully, you've received your annual rent letter. So, we thought it would be good to share the many ways you can easily pay your rent:

Telephone Payments via a Debit card: You can pay by debit card by calling 0845 8350144. The line is open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Please note that we do not accept payment by credit card.

Online Payments: We've made it easier than ever before to pay your rent online, no matter what time of day or where you are you can Pay Online.

Standing Order: Your payments can be made monthly from your bank account by standing order. To arrange a standing order please contact the Income Collection Team on 0115 917 7777 and an instruction will be sent to you. 

Post: Cheques must be made payable to Broxtowe Borough Council. Please write your name, address, and account number on the back of your cheque. Post-dated cheques cannot be accepted.

Rent Free Weeks: As your rent is payable in advance and if you pay weekly, you will need to make 49 weekly payments. This means there are 4 rent free weeks in a year.

National Gardening Week

More than ever we've found sanctuary in parks, outdoor spaces and our gardens. So let's celebrate the joy they bring by getting involved with National Gardening Week - Monday 26th April - 2nd May. 

The theme for this years National Gardening Week is still to be announced, so keep checking the website for more details to come. 

And in the meantime, grab that trowel, those gardening gloves and a cup of tea and have a go at home. RHS has some fantastic tips on planting exciting food and fauna to 'Grow at Home.'

We have two rapid testing centres in the Broxtowe Borough. 

  • Stapleford Library, NG9 8GA
  • Newdigate Street Card Park, NG16 2NJ

Asymptomatic testing helps identify and isolate individuals who have COVID-19 but do NOT have any symptoms.

There is no need to book - just turn up.
