Community Testing now open
 Testing is now available for those who don't have symptoms of COVID-19.
Why get a test?
Testing is particularly important is you work in a job where you cannot work from home. With 1 in 3 people who test positive showing no symptoms, testing people who don't have symptoms (are asymptomatic) helps ensure that they aren't passing on the virus without realising.
The testing site could provide a real life line to businesses in the area who need to stay open and have staff working on site whilst restrictions remain in place.
How do I get a test?
You don't need to book an appointment, just turn up for your free test at Stapleford Library during the following opening hours:
- Sundays - Closed
- Mondays - Closed
- Tuesdays - 8am - 6pm
- Wednesday - 7am - 5pm
- Thursdays - 8am - 6pm
- Fridays - 8am - 6pm
- Saturday - 8.30am - 1pm
You'll get the results within an hour.
Businesses might want to talk to us about pre-booking a regular slot for your business at our community testing site. To explore this option please contact press@broxtowe.gov.uk and your request will be passed to the project team.

Vaccination Site in Chilwell
 A community pharmacy led vaccination site is planned to open next week at The Village Hotel, Brailsford Way, Chilwell, NG9 6DL.
Residents who are in any of the groups which have been invited to come forward for their vaccine can book at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/ or by calling 119.
Please note booking is not yet open for this site - booking is expected to start early next week so please keep checking the booking page for updates.
If you have not been invited for your vaccination yet, please be patient whilst those in the highest priority groups are given access first.

Stay at Home After Your Vaccination
 Have you had your COVID-19 vaccination?
If so, you still need to stick to the current Government guidance and stay at home to protect your family, friends and community.

Vaccination Stories
 Councillor Halimah Khaled is encouraging local people to come forward for their vaccination once they have been invited to do say.
She says: "Having been in hospital for COVID-19 myself in recent months, I can tell you what a truly awful experience it was and how scared I was.
I cannot stress how important it is to book your vaccine appointment once you are invited to come forward.
As a proud Muslim, I know there are many myths and misinformation about the vaccine in amongst our community, as well as others from black, ethnic and minority backgrounds.
Lots of great work is going on in our area to dispel these myths so that we can encourage people to get their vaccine when offered it.
Please take the time to inform yourself about the facts from reliable sources.
No matter our background, each of us can make a decision to have the vaccine and help protect the lives of all those we hold dear."

Beeston Muslim Centre Encouraging Residents To Get Their Vaccine
Beeston Muslim Centre is encouraging local residents to get their COVID-19 vaccine when invited to make an appointment thanks to a grant from Broxtowe Borough Council.
The Centre was awarded a grant from the Council to support their efforts to promote the COVID-19 vaccination programme in the Muslim community.

Climate Change and Green Futures Research Project
Do you live or work in the Broxtowe area? Are you interested in shaping the green future of our community? Are there challenges in daily life which stop you from being more environmentally-friendly?
Students from the University of Nottingham have teamed up with Broxtowe Borough Council to help create conversation surrounding sustainability that involves the whole community.
The students will be running two 2-hour online workshops based on the Council’s Climate Change and Green Futures strategy, that will cover topics including climate, ecosystems, water and lifestyle in the Broxtowe area.
- Workshop 1 - 9:30am -11:30am on 9th March
- Workshop 2 - 9:30am -11:30am on 16th March

Go Green Challenge
Thank you to the Thresher family from Beeston, one of 400 families who have signed up for our Go Green Challenge. They sent us a photo last week, of a bird feeder they had made out of an old plastic bottle.
The family have been taking part in the Go Green Challenge and are on week two which looks at plastic reducing, reusing and recycling.
It looks like they are enjoying the weekly challenges.

Census 2021 Information Webinar
The Census, run by the Office for National Statistics, gives us the most accurate estimate of all the people and households in England and Wales. It has been carried out every ten years since 1801, with the exception of 1941.
Leia Morales is a Census Engagement Manager, working on behalf of the ONS to inform the local community about Census 2021. In this event she will talk about the questionnaire and its importance in Broxtowe. She will demonstrate the Electronic Questionnaire and offer guidance on the support that is available if you need additional help to participate.

Want to vote by post?
Elections will be taking place this May, to make sure your voice is heard on 6 May 2021, you need to be registered in order to be eligible to vote.
If you want a postal vote, make sure you apply as early as possible.

Support Available
Self-isolating
If you develop symptoms of Covid-19, stay at home and self-isolate immediately. If you have a positive test result but do not have symptoms, stay at home and self-isolate as soon as you receive the results. Your household needs to isolate too.

Financial support

The impact of the pandemic on you and your loved ones and not being able to enjoy all of the activities you would normally be involved in can all have an impact on your health. It is important to remember to look after yourself. If you have symptoms or a health concern you are worried about, please contact your GP practice. GP practices are still open and here for you. When you call your practice, you may be offered a consultation online or over the phone. If they feel they need to see you in person, they will invite you in for a face to face appointment.
