New Restrictions in place in Broxtowe - effective from 14th October

New Restrictions

From tomorrow (14th October) new restrictions will be in place for Broxtowe, as well all areas withinNottinghamshire County and Nottingham City.

This follows the Government's announcement of a new three tier system for COVID-19 restrictions.

Nottinghamshire has been placed within tier two and is on a 'high' alert level.

Tier two restrictions are:

  • People must not meet with anybody outside their household or support bubble in any indoor setting, whether at home or in a public place.
  • People must not meet in a group of more than six outside, including in a garden or other space.
  • People should aim to reduce the number of journeys they make where possible. If they need to travel, they should walk or cycle where possible, or to plan ahead and avoid busy times and routes on public transport.

If you are considered to be extremely vulnerable, view the guidance on shielding in a high alert level area.

These restrictions will be reviewed by the Government regularly.

Hands, face, space

  • FACE - wear face coverings in enclosed spaces where you can’t keep your distance

  • SPACE - observe social distancing of 2metres (or 1metre with additional precautions where 2m is not possible)

Isolate to save lives

Self-isolate and get a free test if you have any of these symptoms:

  • a high temperature

  • a new, continuous cough

  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste

Additional information

  • Businesses and venues can continue to operate, in a COVID-Secure manner, other than those which remain closed in law.

  • Certain businesses selling food or drink on their premises are required to close between 10pm and 5am. Businesses and venues selling food for consumption off the premises, can continue to do so after 10pm as long as this is through delivery service, click-and-collect or drive-thru.

  • Schools, universities and places of worship remain open.

  • Weddings and funerals can go ahead with restrictions on the number of attendees.

  • Exercise classes and organised sport can continue to take place outdoors. These will only be permitted indoors if it is possible for people to avoid mixing with people they do not live with (or share a support bubble with).

  • People can continue to travel to venues or amenities which are open, for work or to access education, but should look to reduce the number of journeys they make where possible.

'High alert' guidance

Why have these measures been put in place?

This comes as the numbers across the city and county continue to escalate. Numbers in the city are currently at more than 900 cases per 100,000 and the county ranges between 90 and 290 per 100,000. This is based on the rate in the seven days up to 8th October.

The new restrictions are designed to curb this trajectory to save lives, protect the most vulnerable, reduce pressure on the NHS, and keep schools and businesses open as much as possible.
