Closure of the SBGF and RHLGF Business Grants
A reminder the following grant schemes will close for applications on Friday 28th August 2020;
- Small Business Grant Fund (SBGF)
- Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund (RHLGF)
Over 90% of eligible business applications have already been processed, however there may still be some eligible businesses that have not applied.

Jobs Retention (Furlough) Scheme Update
As the there is little over 9 weeks remaining on the scheme, businesses are asked to consider and put plans in place for the 31st October 2020.
Once the scheme closes, employers must either;
Payments in September and October
Changes to the amounts the government will pay to successful claimants under the scheme include:
-
September - 70% of wages up to a cap of £2,187.50 for the hours the employee does not work. Employers will pay ER NICs and pension contributions and 10% of wages to make up 80% total up to a cap of £2,500.

October - 60% of wages up to a cap of £1,875 for the hours the employee does not work. Employers will pay ER NICs and pension contributions and 20% of wages to make up 80% total up to a cap of £2,500.
After you've made a claim
Businesses claiming through the scheme must:
- keep a copy of all records for 6 years, including;
- the amount claimed and claim period for each employee
- the claim reference number for your records
- your calculations in case HMRC need more information about your claim
- for employees you flexibly furloughed, usual hours worked including any calculations that were required
- for employees you flexibly furloughed, actual hours worked
- tell your employees that you have made a claim and that they do not need to take any more action
- pay your employee their wages, if you have not already
New Small Business Grant
A new £20m grant scheme was recently announced by government, a proportion of which can be accessed by businesses in Broxtowe,
The grant scheme, which will be administered at a local level by the D2N2 LEP is specifically aimed at SMEs, to help them recover from the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The funding for successful applicants will come in the form of a payment between £1k - £5k, which can be used to support one or a combination of the following activities:

Access to technology or new equipment in order to get back on track or diversify,
-
Access to professional advice such as HR, legal or financial to aid business decision making and risk management.
The D2N2 Growth Hub is currently working hard to finalise the application process for these grants and will provide further information on the eligibility criteria as soon as it’s available. EU procurement regulations will apply to this funding.

Self-Employment Income Support Scheme
Applications for the second and final grant are now open.
If you’re eligible and your business has been adversely affected on or after 14th July 2020, you must make your claim for the second grant on or before 19th October 2020.
The second and final taxable grant:
- is worth 70% of your average monthly trading profits,
- paid out in a single instalment covering 3 months’ worth of profits,
- and capped at £6,570 in total.

Eat Out, to Help Out Scheme - Claiming back discounts
The Eat Out, to Help Out scheme closes for discounts to diners on Monday 31st August.
If you have previously registered your establishment and offered discounts within the terms of the scheme, to diners between 3rd and 31st August, you can:
-
claim back the discount given on food and non-alcoholic drinks,
-
submit weekly claims for August until 30th September.
Claims to recover the discount offered to diners can be made 7 days from the date the businesses was registered.
What should my business do once the discount closes to customers?
If you have not already, you should now begin making the claims to recover funds, before the claims deadline. A business can make up to 5 separate claims based on trading periods below:
- 3rd to 5th August
- 10th to 12th August
- 17th to 19th August
- 24th to 26th August
- 31st August
How to claim
This is done via the government website and can be found by clicking the 'Claim Now' button below.
You’ll need the records you’ve kept for each day you’ve used the scheme, including the:
-
total number of diners (covers) who have used the scheme, including children,
-
total amount of discount you’ve given,
-
trading period you’re claiming for (above).
Businesses have until the 30th September deadline to make their weekly claims to government.
