Thank You Broxtowe!

Thank you week 17th-21st August with clapping hands

This week has been our dedicated thank you week, where we have been recognising the support and community spirit that has kept us all going over the last few months. Some of you may have even spotted it on East Midlands Today earlier this week.

Chief Executive, Ruth Hyde OBE said: "I have loved seeing the stories that have been shared on our social media accounts this week about all of the wonderful work that has taken place in the community during the pandemic, as well as from our employees.

I think its a really lovely thing to dedicate a whole week just to saying thank you and we should be proud of ourselves, our residents and our businesses for everything that's been done to look after each other.

We don't know how the next few months will play out with the virus so we really need to hold on to this community support and spirit to get us through whatever lies ahead."

To mark the week, a special Thank You video has been produced which you can see below.

  • Stay home and book a test if you have symptoms

Local Pub Recognised

Caring and community-minded Eastwood pub, The Dog and Parrot, has been shortlisted in the Great British Pub Awards for their work supporting the local community, particularly during the pandemic.

Owners of the Dog and Parrot

This passionate and caring pub team have been recognised for going above and beyond for the local community by offering support to local people, particularly to the most vulnerable.

Their commitment to strict health and safety measures relating to COVID-19 has also been highly commended. This dedication, hard work and caring nature has put The Dog and Parrot in the list of the six top community-minded pubs in the UK and votes are still being cast to choose a winner.

Through work with local charity groups, opening safely, building support networks and keeping spirits up, it is very clear this is more than just your average pub. This is a very special pub indeed.

If you agree this is a very special pub, the voting is still open and can be cast at www.greatbritishpubawards.co.uk/community-mindfulness/

Canvass

The annual canvass has started with envelope and registration form

Each year we contact every household in Broxtowe to check whether we have the correct people registered to vote and to ask you to notify us of any changes.

This year the canvass is operating slightly different, which means that you may receive a letter, an email or a phone call from us asking to check who we have registered and to tell us about any changes.

This year's canvass is taking place during a challenging public health time. We are working to ensure that we take account of public health guidelines, including the continued importance of social distancing.

If you do not response as requested, we may contact you by telephone or you may receive a house visit from one of our canvassers to ask you to confirm your household details. We will only send canvasses to properties if it is safe to do so.
