Coronavirus Guidance Update

Wash your hands, wear a face covering and keep your distance

Social distancing is vital, now more than ever, to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. Wherever possible, it is important to maintain a minimum distance of two metres between you and someone outside of your household. Where two metres is not possible, a minimum distance of one metre plus is advised, along with other mitigating measures such as face coverings and good hand hygiene.

This week the Government have updated guidance on self-isolation. You should now self-isolate for:

  • 10 days if you have coronavirus symptoms OR a positive test
  • 14 days if you are in the household or someone who has coronavirus OR symptoms
  • 14 days if returning from a country with travel restrictions

Celebrating Eid Safely

Celebrate Eid at a Covid secure mosque

The virus continues to challenge many parts of daily life and this means that extra measures should be taken to celebrate Eid-al-Adha safely this year. Everyone should be able to celebrate important religious festivals and Eid-al-Adha is no exception. But we must ensure this is done safely.

Mosques and other places of worship have reopened for prayer and communal worship, but in a different socially distanced and COVID-19 Secure way. This means many are not able to welcome as many worshippers as before.

Restrictions are in place to keep all of our families, friends and communities safe and we recognise that this may make marking Eid-al-Adha different this year.

Beeston's new cinema will be handed over to its operators before the end of the year, as the team behind the project provided an update on its progress.

The eight-screen cinema – which will be operated by Arc Cinema – forms part of the wider Beeston Square redevelopment, which will include an eight-screen cinema, 132 new homes and a range of food and drink outlets.

Progress on the cinema had been slowed by the Coronavirus pandemic, which caused delays in the building work and the delivery of materials to site.
