Face coverings from Friday
Businesses and those planning on visiting a shop or supermarket, are reminded that it will be mandatory to wear a face covering whilst on the premises from Friday 24th July onwards.
Please note that it will still be mandatory to wear a face covering on all public transport.
Some exemptions
You do not need to wear a face covering if you have a legitimate reason not to. This includes, but is not limited to:
- young children under the age of 11,
- not being able to put on, wear or remove a face covering because of a physical or mental illness or impairment, or disability.
Please click 'more info' below to see the government guidance on face coverings. See section 5 of that guidance to view the full list of exemptions.
In settings where it will not be mandatory to wear a face covering, such as some 'close contact businesses', those businesses may still request their customers to wear a face covering as part of their own measures to stay COVID-secure.
Those struggling to source or preferring not to wear masks, can opt to make their own face covering. Click for Guidance on making your own face covering.
