FREE Workplace NHS
Health Checks
The NHS
Health Check is a simple, free 20-30
minute check-up for 40-74 year olds to see if they have an increased risk
of developing cardiovascular disease (e.g. a heart attack or stroke) in the
future. It also checks for signs that may lead to diabetes or kidney disease.
Those who are at increased risk are offered advice, support and treatment as
appropriate to reduce and manage their risk.
Nottinghamshire
County Council is responsible for making sure that everyone who is eligible has
the opportunity to have a check-up. Most people have the check at their GP
practice, but some people find it difficult to access this service. We
therefore commission Phakey’s Pharmacy, Nottingham, to deliver community and workplace-based sessions so
that people who can’t get a check at their GP practice don’t have to miss out.
We are keen
to reach out to as many people as possible who are eligible for the check, so
are inviting you to host a free NHS
Heart Check-Up session at your workplace or organisation, delivered by our
NHS pharmacist or pharmacy technician.
An agreement will be made clearly stating the responsibilities of all
parties (please see the accompanying Memorandum of Understanding).
This is an
excellent chance to benefit your staff and
people attending your organisation, so we hope that you will take this
opportunity to get involved.
