Good afternoon,
Last Friday, I had the opportunity to go out with Brentwood’s Street Pastors. The Street Pastors are a very important voluntary partner for our night time economy. The Street pastors are Pauline, Colm, Ralph and Michelle. And our very own Frances Scrutton is the lead co-ordinator for the pastors.
We were out until the early hours but fortunately we didn’t have any incidents. The team did give out lots of help to individuals and groups who had questions or needed some sort of support to ensure they had a safe and enjoyable evening.
Brentwood’s night time economy is extremely important and the role organisations like the Street Pastors play is invaluable to ensure residents and visitors have the best experience.
Remember if you are 'out out' and need anything to support your night like sandals because your feet ache, water because you need to hydrate, directions or just a chat - the Street Pastors offer all this and more.
A great experience and a massive thank you to the Street Pastors.

Be the first to try out the new exciting TAG Active facility!
The new Hartswood Pavilion building at King George's Playing Fields will be officially opened on Friday 11 March by the Mayor Of Brentwood, Cllr Olivia Sanders.
The pavilion will be managed by Everyone Active (who also currently manage the Brentwood Centre).
They would like to invite any Brentwood Borough Council staff members down on Thursday 10 March between 4-6pm to try out the new TAG Active facility for FREE!
On Saturday 12 March from 9am-10am, there is also a challenge event for any Brentwood Borough Council staff, Everyone Active and Jamie Knight the freestyle footballer who was on Britain's Got Talent, to test yourself in the TAG box. Bring your kids to try the new soft play.
If you would like to participate in either event, please email Gemma Bentley Smith at Hartswood Pavilion at gemmabentleysmith@everyoneactive.com

Standing with Ukraine 💙💛
We have all been affected by the devastating and tragic events in Ukraine caused by the unprovoked invasion and devastating attack by the Russian government, led by President Vladimir Putin.
Last weekend, we lit the Town Hall the colours of the Ukrainian flag, blue and yellow and on Monday, the Mayor issued a statement in support of the people of Ukraine.
You will have seen on the news and social media that people want to do whatever they can to show their support and help where they can and the Brentwood borough is no different. Early this week, our community hub partners along with charitable organisations, who were a lifeline from the start of the pandemic lockdown - reconvened to support our Ukrainian residents collect donations for humanitarian aid and signpost people to organisations, like the Red Cross and Save the Children who have opened appeals. I would like to thank everyone who has supported this ongoing effort so far.
Looking ahead, we have ordered a Ukrainian flag for the Town Hall, which understandably is in high demand at the moment. And a fundraising concert is being planned at the Brentwood Centre on the 26th March with the Brentwood Imperial Youth Band. As soon as ticket sales open, we will share the details with you.

Peer Review challenge
You may remember that last November we welcomed the Local Government Association to Brentwood to take part in a Corporate Peer Review. This wasn't like an OFSTED inspection, it was more of a supportive exercise to help assess the overall health of the council in achieving our ambitions and desired outcomes.
We have now received the feedback report from the LGA Peer Review team and the report will be going to Full Council on the 16th March. The next stage is we will develop an action plan to progress the suggestions made in the report.
Kind regards,
Jonathan
