Boost your immunity this winter

This winter it is essential to protect yourself and others against both flu and COVID-19.

• Residents are invited forward to clinics, community pharmacies and vaccination centres where residents can book through the National Booking Service (NBS) or walk-In without an appointment where this is an option. Further information on walk ins is available via Find a walk-in coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination site - NHS (www.nhs.uk). Anyone attending a walk-in is reminded to cancel an existing booking if they had already made one.
• If you are over 40, you are eligible for a COVID-19 booster. You will only be offered an appointment date that is at least 182 days after your 2^nd vaccination, although you can access the National Booking Service from 5 months (152 days) after your 2^ndvaccination. 
• You can also book your free flu vaccine appointment now. Visit https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/flu-influenza-vaccine/ for more information.

Discover Winter starts with Christmas in Crown Street this Saturday

There is something for everyone on offer this year with events taking place throughout Brentwood, Ingatestone and Shenfield.

This Saturday, we have Christmas in Crown Street which will see a Christmas Market, live music, children’s slime making and entertainment to mark the start of the Discover Winter festivities.

Chicken & Frog bookshop will host a storyteller at 3pm and an author event at 4pm preceded by the St Thomas’ Choir at 2pm. The Larder will be serving hot home made soup too.

The Christmas trees around the borough at the Town Hall, St Thomas’ Church, Shenfield, Brentwood High Street, and Brentwood Station will be lit from Saturday. Thank you to our tree sponsors RCH Care Homes, Hallmark Care Homes, Brentwood Razzamataz and Mullis & Peake LLP Solicitors.

Do you need support?

Organisations or groups who need advice or support can email the Council's Community Services Team at communitysupport@brentwood.gov.uk. If you find yourself having to stay at home and need help with picking up shopping, a friendly phone call, posting mail or urgent supplies please contact a Community Help Hub in your area/village and they can help. Further support can be found from the following groups: Brentwood COVID-19 Mutual Aid - contact 01277 424953 or email admin@brentwood-mutual-aid.org or visit the Facebook page. Brentwood Residents' Action Group (BRAG) - contact 07553 788009 or 07961 972917.

Are you concerned about someone's safety?

If you are concerned that a child or young person is being harmed, neglected or at risk of this you should contact Essex Social Care on 0345 603 7627.

Out of hours (5.30pm - 9am) Monday - Thursday, 4.30pm Friday - 9am Monday, and Bank Holidays 0345 606 1212 or 0300 1230 770.

If you have concerns that a vulnerable adult may be being harmed, neglected or at risk of abuse you should contact Essex Social Care Direct on 0345 603 7630 (Out of hours 0345 606 1212).
