Roadmap out of lockdown Step 3 - May 17
The Government’s Roadmap out of Lockdown will see more restrictions lift from May 17th. The new national measures mean:
** Up to 6 people or 2 households will be able to meet indoors and up to 30 people outdoors.
** Indoor hospitality reopens and indoor entertainment resumes including theatres, concert halls, bowling alleys, casinos, amusement arcades, museums and children’s indoor play areas with COVID-secure measures in place.
** Indoor and outdoor events, including live performances, sporting events and business events can take place with attendance capped according to venue type, and attendees should follow the COVID-secure measures set out by those venues.
**Organised indoor sport will be able to take place and all indoor gym classes can resume.
**Up to 30 people will now be able to attend commemorative events including weddings, receptions, wakes, as well as standalone life-cycle events. These can take place outdoors or at any indoor Covid secure venue that is permitted to open. Other significant life events, such as bar/bat mitzvahs and christenings, will also be able to take place with a limit of 30 people. Support groups and parent and child group (not including under 5s) are also limited to a gathering of 30 people.
**Care home residents receiving visitors will be allowed up to five named visitors (two at any one time), provided visitors test negative for COVID-19.
** All holiday accommodation will be open, including hotels and B&Bs. This can be used by groups of up to 6 or 2 households each household can include a support bubble, if eligible. There will no longer be a legal restriction or permitted reason required to travel internationally. However, there will be a traffic light system for international travel, and you must follow the rules when returning to England depending on whether you return from a red, amber or green list country.
** All higher education students will be able to access in-person teaching.
The Brentwood Centre reopens fully on Monday
The Brentwood Centre will fully reopen on Monday May 17 in line with the further lifting of restrictions as part of the Government’s Roadmap out of Lockdown.
From Monday the centre will be open during the week from 5.45am through until 10pm with Group X Classes taking place indoors for the first time this year and an extended programme of classes including adult swimming lessons, kick boxing and karate clubs.

You can take part by:
- Making a formal submission;
- Posting on our pinboard;
- Taking part in our online survey;
- If you’re under 18 or have dependents under 18, take part in our young persons' activities;
- Doing the interactive mapping exercise;
- Joining our live consultation event; or
- Emailing or calling us.

Getting tested for COVID-19
The Government advise that working from home should continue where possible for now. When travelling within the UK, you should aim to do so safely and plan your journey in advance and anyone with COVID-19 symptoms should get a test and follow the stay at home guidance.
