Important information for you and your household

|
Thank you for subscribing to receive email updates from Brentwood Borough Council.
Below is some important information as well as links to get advice and support.
Eat Out To Help Out
The government announced that there have been more than 64 million discounted meals claimed for by restaurants up to 25 August 2020. The scheme runs until Monday 31 August so you still have time to dine at one of the 80 participating establishments in Brentwood:
-
to get a 50% discount on food or non-alcoholic drinks to eat or drink in (up to a maximum of £10 discount per diner)
-
every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday until 31 August
-
as many times as you like
You do not need a voucher to use this scheme and you can use it at the same time as other offers and discounts. There is no minimum spend. All diners – including children – in a group of any size can use the discount.
You cannot claim discount on alcoholic drinks or service charges.
The discount will be automatically available to you at participating establishments. Establishments will then claim a reimbursement from the government for the discount they have given you.

Brentwood Countryside Management Volunteer Group – Resuming 26 August 2020
Throughout the year the Brentwood Countryside Management Volunteer group carry out a wide variety of tasks including pond management, tree and hedge planting, woodland management across the Council's countryside estate as well as helping to maintain Brentwood's 243km of public rights of way.
Volunteering is a great way of getting out into the countryside and discovering places that you may not have visited before. It's also a chance to meet new people and learn new skills.
Volunteer projects take place every Wednesday from 10am until approximately 3pm.
For further information, please email Tracey Lynch, Deputy Operations Manager at tracey.lynch@brentwood.gov.uk.

What Can You Recycle?
Before presenting your recycling, please check that we accept all the contents of your containers as recycling, otherwise we may not be able to empty it. To check what you can and can’t recycle, please refer to our A-Z Recycling Guide.
Next week is cardboard and paper recycling in your BLUE reusable bag. Please remember we are no longer able to collect orange sacks.
To keep you and our crews safe during COVID-19, you may wish to wipe reusable containers before and after emptying, then wash your hands for 20 seconds afterwards. Please place cloths/paper towels you have used in your household waste black sack.
Please note that collections will continue as normal on the Bank Holiday Monday.
Do You Receive A Communal Waste And Recycling Collection?
We are gradually making our way round the borough to change the recycling bins in communal collection areas to the new scheme. The current bins used for the orange sacks are being removed and replaced with separate bins for “Cans and Plastic” and “Paper and Card”.
You will receive a letter with detailed information when the bins in your area are changed. Until then, please continue to recycle using the orange sacks.
