New Recycling Scheme
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the roll out of the new recycling scheme had to be postponed.
We are now pleased to announce that the new service will start week commencing Monday 3rd August.
The new scheme will see the orange plastic sacks replaced with two reusable sacks.

Reopening of Non-Essential Retail Shops from 15 June
We are supporting our high street shops in Brentwood, Shenfield and Ingatestone as they begin to reopen from Monday, 15 June by working with local retailers to create a safe shopping experience in the borough. The Council’s Economic Development team have distributed printed information packs and signage for each shop, hosted virtual workshops with leading UK retail experts and offered 121 advice.
Our ‘Brentwood Open’, ‘Shenfield Open’ and ‘Ingatestone Open’ campaigns have been launched to give local shops information and support to get ready to reopen COVID-19 Secure.
When shopping, please
- Maintain social distancing
- Wash your hands frequently
- Be patient when queuing
Additional plans to support the reopening of our shops include marking and signage of our high streets.
Textile Collection
The kerbside textile collection service, provided by Essex Textiles Service, has resumed.

Building Control Site Inspections
From Monday 8 June 2020 we will be undertaking Site Inspections where works can be viewed externally.
To arrange a visit, please contact us on 01277 312500. Please note, if the inspection requires our surveyors to enter a property or view works internally we will be unable to book this and would ask that photos are emailed in to buildingsurveying@brentwood.gov.uk.
Please note that if a visit is booked then strict social distancing must be enforced otherwise the surveyor will be unable to carry out the inspection.
