COVID-19

Useful information for you and your household

Thank you for subscribing to receive email updates from Brentwood Borough Council.

We are sending updates about Coronavirus (COVID-19) on a weekly basis, however, if we have new information to share with our residents, we may send out additional emails.

Below is some useful information about our services as well as links to get advice and support.

Waste and Recycling

There are no changes to your collection day during the May bank holiday weekend.  All Council household waste and recycling collections are currently operating as normal. The safety and welfare of our staff and residents is a matter of importance to us and we continue to follow government guidance regarding social distancing.  The resources required to deliver these services is reviewed on a daily basis, therefore please check our Waste & Recycling web page for updates.  You can check when your next collection is by entering your address in our MyProperty facility or print off a copy of your calendar to refer to.

Building Control - Site Inspections

Due to guidance received from government we are not currently undertaking site inspections. Instead we are asking for photos to be sent as soon as possible with the address of the site on the date that you want the site inspection to buildingsurveying@brentwood.gov.uk. These will then be looked at by a surveyor who will email you to confirm if everything is ok or if anything further is required within 24 hours of receiving the photos.

Parking

Car Parks

Our car parks are open, with the exception of the Coptfold Road Multi-Storey Car Park which will be re-opening to the public from Friday 22nd May 2020. Please note only card payments will be accepted and we ask that you adhere to the social distancing markers that have been put in place. Season Ticket holders for the Coptfold Road Multi-Storey that are currently parking in William Hunter Way due to the closure should return to parking in the Coptfold Road Multi-Storey after its opening.

On Street Parking

Information and changes that have been implemented by South Essex Parking Partnership (SEPP) for on street parking during the coronavirus pandemic is available on Chelmsford City Council’s website.

Essex Country Parks Thorndon Country Park and Weald Country Park are reopening on Thursday 21st May. The parks, car parks and toilets will be open to the public, however, the children’s play equipment, visitor centres and cafes will remain closed, in line with government guidance. Essex Country Council ask that all visitors using the Essex Country Parks follow social distancing rules, paying particular attention to these in areas such as the car parks and toilet facilities. We anticipate that the parks will be busy, and so ask residents to use their judgment in relation to their visit – considering the time of their visit and the park they choose to visit for example.

Essex County Council Civic Amenity Sites

Both Coxtie Green and Mountnessing civic amenity sites are now open with new restrictions and strict social distancing controls in place. To avoid very long queues to get on the site, residents are being urged to hold on to their household waste until the recycling centres return to normal.

Grass Cutting

Over the past weeks, grass cutting in the borough had been suspended in order to focus our resources on essential services. We are pleased to announce that we have now started grass cutting again but are behind on our usual schedule. We appreciate your patience whilst we make our best efforts to catch up.

Hartswood Golf Course The golf course is now open and to ensure the safety of both players and staff during the coronavirus pandemic we ask that you adhere to the procedures put in place which are provided on our website.

Planning

In light of the current restrictions of movement and activity as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak the Council is asking for your assistance to display the many site notices which would ordinarily be displayed by Council officers. If you are sent a request to display a notice please follow the guidance provided - Guidance for the displaying of site notices.
