Our goal remains to support, sustain, and grow businesses across the Breckland district. We know how tough trading conditions currently are for some businesses, with unprecedented pressure on supply chains and spiralling costs. In this edition we have some detail around latest funding streams and events which are relevant to supporting Breckland businesses.

Free VisitEngland 'Taking England to The World' workshop in Norwich

VisitEngland would like to invite you to Taking England to The World – a one day training programme which aims to help your business reach new customers and grow your revenue, supported by the region's destination organisations.

This is a rare opportunity for businesses in the region to engage directly with the national tourist organisation and learn how to benefit from inbound tourism, worth £28.4bn a year. to the UK economy.

Taking England to The World has been created and is being delivered by industry experts providing information on insights and research, marketing, product development, distribution and partnerships to create a fully rounded training offering.

The event is at Norwich City Football Club on Tuesday, October 4 and is free to attend. Book early to avoid disappointment.

Small Grant Scheme

For small businesses with big ambitions, the ‘Small Grant Scheme’ is exclusive to individuals and organisations that do business in Norfolk and Suffolk who are seeking grant funding.

This offers grants from £1,000 to £25,000 to help you grow your business. These normally cover up to 20% of your total project costs. To discuss your plans in confidence with a business adviser, please contact the New Anglia Growth Hub – call 0300 333 6536 or email info@newangliagrowthhub.co.uk.

Road to Net Zero Support Programme

Road to Net Zero will support Norfolk and Suffolk businesses to access grants for projects that will deliver carbon saving reductions. It will provide:

  • grants from £1,000 to £25,000, covering up to 75% of the costs, supporting businesses towards net zero
  • consultancy from business experts, business audits will help identify the first step towards net zero
  • a dedicated trained resource within the New Anglia Growth Hub and the Chambers of Commerce
  • evidence mapping support from UEA, in partnership with the University of Suffolk
  • online toolkits and resources for partners to share and promote a Net Zero Challenge Fund

Workplace Charging Scheme

The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is a voucher-based scheme that provides support towards the up-front costs of the purchase and installation of electric vehicle charge-points, for eligible businesses. The grant can cover up to 75% of the total costs of the purchase and installation of EV chargepoints. Further detail can be found here –

Drive Funding

Delivering Rural Investment for Vital Employment (DRIVE) is a new business mentoring and funding programme. It is for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that impact the rural economy in Norfolk and Suffolk. The funding helps SMEs to invest in new projects for growth and expansion.

Examples of projects you could spend grant money on include:

  • buying new machinery or equipment
  • business expansion
  • technology upgrades
  • tourism development

What does the programme offer?

DRIVE provides applicants with an opportunity to invest in a new business project that focuses on creating new employment. Each applicant can apply for a grant of up to 40% of a project’s total costs, between £5,000 and £30,000.

All businesses accepted onto the programme get 12 hours of free business mentoring and support for their plans before applying for a DRIVE grant.

Help to Grow Scheme

Help to Grow: Digital is a government backed, UK-wide scheme that supports eligible SMEs to choose, buy and integrate software into their business.

Through the scheme you can access:

Funding to help buy new software. Receive a discount of up to 50% or £5,000 (excluding VAT) towards the cost of buying approved software in the Help to Grow: Digital scheme.

Flourish Pledge

We need your help to make Norfolk a county where every child and young person can flourish.

Norfolk County Council are calling on businesses (SMEs)

Flourish Pledge

from all over Norfolk to make a pledge to improve the lives of children and young people in the county.

Norfolk Children and Young People Strategic Alliance recently launched the Flourish Pledge, reflecting what young people have said is important to them. This includes the opportunity to live a good life.

We are asking businesses to make one new promise or commitment to help local young people do just that in the coming year.

Could your organisation pledge to:

  • Become a family-friendly employer?
  • Provide discounts or extra opportunities for children and young people?

 Join the Youth Pledge for Employers initiative, offering:

  • Half an hour to give a talk to young people?
  • A tour of your site?
  • Job coaching or mentoring?
  • Work experience?
  • An apprenticeship or employment?

It’s free to sign up, support is available to help organisations plan and deliver their pledge, and a colourful Flourish Pledge badge is available for participants to display and use in their signage, online presence, and printed materials.  You can find out more and make your pledge at www.norfolk.gov.uk/flourish.

NAAME [New Anglia Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering] is the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership (NALEP) recognised sector group for manufacturing & engineering businesses in Norfolk & Suffolk.

This a trusted forum for businesses to contact one another and to share ideas, challenges and best practice within a culture of mutual support and encouragement.  The fundamental objective of NAAME is to create opportunities that stimulate innovation & productivity gains through collaboration & peer-to-peer learning, in pursuit of inclusive growth.

Broadband Improvement

The Government is providing up to £210m worth of voucher funding as immediate help for businesses experiencing slow broadband speeds in rural areas. Vouchers worth up £3,500 are available for businesses help to cover the costs of installing gigabit broadband to people’s doorsteps.

Energy Efficiency Grants 

Bee Anglia offer free specialist advice and grants to support businesses in Norfolk and Suffolk to reduce their carbon footprint. Grants are available at up to 40% of your total project cost (or up to £20,000) for any upgrade or improvement that achieves an adequate energy saving.
