Look out for your poll card
Keep an eye out for your polling station poll cards and postal poll cards being delivered this week!
If you have not received your poll card within a couple of weeks, please check that you are registered to vote by contacting our Elections team on 01376 552525 or email elections@braintree.gov.uk
Not registered to vote yet? It's quick & easy to do - just visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.The deadline for registering to vote is midnight on 12th April.
Postal and proxy voting information
If you are unable to get to your polling station on 2nd May, you can apply for a postal vote or proxy vote (proxy means you give permission for someone else to vote on your behalf).
Make sure your application form is sent within good time to ensure you can vote at the District and Parish elections on 2 May 2019. Here's the key dates you need:
Postal votes deadline – 5pm on Monday 15th April 2019
Proxy votes deadline – 5pm on Wednesday 24th April 2019
Don’t forget that you need to bring ID to vote at polling stations for the local elections on 2nd May – this can either be one piece of photo ID such as a passport or driving licence (including provisional licence), or two pieces of non-photo ID such as your poll card, debit/credit card or Council Tax bill. Remember that at least one piece of non-photo ID must show your registered address on it.
Copies of ID on smart devices such as a mobile phone will NOT be accepted. If your ID is paperless, please print out a paper copy.
Please note that this voter ID pilot does not affect postal votes.
