The Bradford Family Film Festival will run throughout August 2026 featuring free family-friendly film screenings every Wednesday at 11am. The festival has moved from City Park to the big screen at Darley Street Market.

Booking are now open for HAF summer holiday clubs!
Holiday, Activities and Food (HAF) places are free for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities - look at the holiday clubs available here.
HAF clubs provide free fun activities and a healthy meal for eligible children. Most HAF clubs can support children with low to moderate SEND needs. Please contact any chosen clubs from the find a club section before booking so you can discuss your child’s needs and make sure the activity is suitable.
Some clubs can support children with higher levels of need. These are marked as: High-level SEND support: Yes.

SEND Reforms – Local Area Reform Plan update
The Bradford Local Area SEND Partnership continues to work together with the Department for Education and local families to finalise the Local Area Reform Plan for the implementation of the SEND Reforms in Bradford District.
Since the consultation on the SEND proposals began in February 2026, the partnership has met with families and children and young people through the SEND parent/carer network group, the Shaping SEND One Plan events and with our local SEND Ambassadors. Young people have also been engaged through the BradStarz youth voice group and SEND Youth Summits.

The Down Syndrome Training and Support Service has been chosen as one of the Lord Mayor of Bradford's charities of the year, and the service has shared they are very grateful for the support.

How do you use your max card?
As we are approach the school holidays we asked you on our Bradford District SEND Facebook page 'How do you use your max card?"
Thank you for all the brilliant responses - they included - Flip Out, Tropical World (Leeds), Clip and Climb, East Riddlesden Hall, Grasshoppers at Tong, Eureka, Haven holidays and many more.
The max card is a discount initiative for children and young people with additional needs (up to 25). If you don't already have a max card you can order one from The Parents' Forum for Bradford and Airedale (PFBA) for £5.50 here.
PFBA are currently doing a free max card giveaway. To be in with the chance of a free card:

CEA Card for the cinema
You might also be able to apply for a CEA Card which allows a disabled cinema guest to receive a complimentary ticket for someone to go with them when they visit a participating cinema.

Seven secondary schools came together at City Hall for the second SEND Youth Voice Summit. Co-produced with Bradford’s BradStarz SEND Youth Forum, the event gave young people a fantastic opportunity to share their experiences and ideas about inclusion and support plans in their schools directly with education teams and council staff.
Young people spoke about how they would like to be involved in support planning and meetings, helping to make sure their voices are heard. This feedback is an important part of strengthening the SEND One Plan, ensuring that children and young people help shape the support and services they receive.

SEND Marketplace drop-in events
Taking place monthly at different venues across the district, come along and speak to specialist SEND services who can provide advice, support and signposting.
- 27 July (1pm - 3pm) at Bradford East Family Hub (Barkerend).
SEND 'Life Admin' session (parent-volunteer led)
A friendly drop-in for families with a child with special education needs and/or disabilities. Run with support from a parent-volunteer with lived experience, the session will focus on checking through paperwork, forms and admin - with a cuppa and a chat.

Children’s dietetic services support babies, children and young people in hospital and as outpatients, as well as in special schools, mainstream schools and at home (up to the age of 18).
The team assesses and treats children with a range of nutritional and diet-related conditions, including faltering growth, food allergies and those needing special therapeutic diets. They also support children who require nutrition via a feeding tube.
The service provides advice and support on feeding, nutrition and special therapeutic diets. If a child has severe or complex feeding difficulties (including extreme food refusal), they may need support from a specialist feeding team or other services.
You can be referred by your GP, health visitor or consultant.

Apply now for Free Childcare for Working Parents – September 2026 start
Do you have a child who will be starting childcare in September? You may be able to get up to 30 hours of free childcare a week through the ‘Free Childcare for Working Parents’ scheme. The childcare must be provided by a registered provider, such as a nursery, playscheme or school. You can search for local childcare options here.
Your child must be at least 9 months old by 31 August, and if your application is successful, you will receive your code before 31 August 2026, which is the deadline for a September start.
To apply now, you’ll need your National Insurance number and will need to set up a GOV.UK childcare account. Once approved, you’ll be given an 11-digit code to confirm your eligibility. You will then need to share this code with your chosen childcare provider.
