Spotlight on: Ageing Well

June is National Age Without Apology Month!

It’s an ideal time to shine a light on the value of every stage of life, encouraging people of all ages to embrace their years with pride and confidence. Lets celebrate aging as a journey filled with wisdom, growth, and unique experiences, while challenging the stereotypes and stigmas often associated with getting older.

New Brain Matters Campaign!

Group of five friends, various races and genders aged 45 - 65, taking a selfies next to lake dressed in hats and coats

It’s easy to think that looking after your brain is something to worry about later in life, but the truth is the small things you do in your 40s, 50s and 60s can make a real difference to your risk of getting dementia.

Did you know that 4 in 10 cases of dementia could potentially be avoided? It’s never too late to start. It’s about simple, everyday behaviours that add up over time.

You can help reduce your risk of dementia if:

  1. You are more active
  2. You don’t smoke and you drink less alcohol
  3. You eat healthily
  4. You have regular hearing and sight checks
  5. You have social contact and keep your brain active
  6. You manage your health

Age Without Limits Day

Let's Question Ageism

How old do you have to be to be considered old? Age Without Limits Day on Wednesday 10 June recognises that ageism is widespread and often goes unnoticed and unchallenged.

Comments like ‘Stuck in their ways’, ‘bit of a dinosaur’ or ‘time to slowdown’ are Everyday phrases can seem harmless, but over time they affect how we see older people, often without us realising. And when you’re on the receiving end they chip away at confidence, influence decisions and can limit opportunities in work, health, relationships and community life.

The more of us take action, the closer we get to ending ageism and creating a society where we can all age without limits.
