What Is Gestational Diabetes Mellitus?
|
Gestational diabetes is a condition first identified during pregnancy. Although blood sugar levels typically return to normal after childbirth, it increases the risk of developing gestational diabetes in future pregnancies and Type 2 diabetes later in life.
The Healthier You: NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme can help reduce that risk with simple lifestyle changes. It’s free, includes 13 supportive sessions over nine months, and is available in person, online, or by phone.

Maternal Health And The Risks Of Drug/Alcohol Use
Public Health Bradford, in partnership with the NHS and New Vision Bradford, have created a moving film to raise awareness of the risks in pregnancy for pre-conception and expectant mothers who use alcohol and drugs.

National HIV Testing Week
 This campaign aims to encourage regular HIV testing across England. It’s particularly aimed at groups most affected by HIV. People will be able to access free HIV tests from a wide range of local outreach and testing sessions scheduled for the week, run in partnership with Yorkshire MESMAC.
Online appointments will also be available by sending an email.

 Bradford’s Anti-Vaping Kick-Off!
Bradford Council’s Public Health team joined forces with Bradford City AFC and worked with local young people to launch a hard-hitting Anti-Vaping campaign to share the risks and harms of vaping.
The campaign has made headlines on BBC, ITV Calendar, and even featured at the Bradford City home match in December!

Dementia Support in Shipley
Bradford FIT (Face It Together) is a very small, friendly support group for people diagnosed with dementia.
The group aims to share what it’s like to live with the condition and discuss what can help. Volunteers facilitate the sessions, but members decide what activities they want to take part in.
The group meets once a month on a Tuesday in Shipley (BD18).
