Fun Autumn Activities!
Autumn is here and with it there are lots of opportunities to enjoy what the season has to offer; colourful leaves, wild and windy days, sunshine and even splashy rainy days!
Go for a Welly Walk: whatever the weather, pull on your wellies and a raincoat and go for a lovely autumnal walk. Don’t avoid the rain and mud but embrace and enjoy it - splash in some muddy puddles, squelch through mud and fallen leaves, feel the rain on your face and look out for scampering squirrels and rainbows!
Build a Den: make use of fallen sticks and branches that have come down in the windy weather to build a den in the back garden, your local park, or the woods.
Make some Nature Art: Challenge each other to make the best natural, or wild art. Gather fallen leaves, twigs, feathers, seeds, conkers, pine cones, grasses, pebbles and even mud and then find your inner artist and arrange it in a collage or a pretty design in your space.
Celebrate Apples: Autumn is the perfect time to pick and use apples and there are always activities going on in Bradford to help you to learn about apples, cook with apples or even help to make apple juice! BEES Community Orchard Apple Day Sunday 12 Oct: 12noon – 4pm, Bowling Park Allotments, Bowling Park Drive, BD4 7ES.
Look for a local park, greenspace or wood close to you.
JU:MP (Join Us : Move Play) Bradford have lots of ideas to keep children and families active, fit and healthy at all times of the year!

Community Voice
 Nourishing Communities Scheme
Living Well has launched ‘Nourishing Communities’, a new food voucher scheme to help Bradford families facing food insecurity.
Delivered by Inn Churches through their FoodSavers programme, the scheme offers vouchers for fresh fruit and veg to use at Darley Street Market and other locations across the district.
Gunther from Roswitha’s Deli said,
“It’s great to see people spending in the right way. Buying good quality ingredients and cooking from scratch. It’s much better than food that is high in fat, sugar or salt, it helps to build healthier eating habits.”
Vouchers will be available from various locations across Bradford for people with long term health conditions who are experiencing food insecurity. After an initial referral and assessment, families will receive a number of vouchers which can be used to buy fresh fruit and vegetables.
Wellnest A dedicated space designed to nurture wellness, sustainability, and social impact.
FoodSavers Cookery School Fun, friendly and welcoming courses suitable for complete beginners, people with all abilities, people who already enjoy cooking and people who are yet to be convinced.
FoodSavers Network Save money on your weekly shop. Save food from going to landfill. Save in a recognised Credit Union scheme.
Keighley Walking Festival 13 - 27 Sept
This annual event, organised and funded by Keighley Town Council, offers an even wider range of guided walks this year with something suitable for most ages and fitness levels – and they are all FREE!

Volunteers Help Revive Bowling Park
A team from N-Gen Energy Solutions joined forces with Friends of Bowling Park to give the park a fresh boost. Led by volunteer George Taylor, they painted benches, repaired the Three Bears picnic table, and refreshed signage.
Urban Ranger Kristian Eastwood and local volunteers also pitched in, clearing rubbish to create space for future community workshops and wellbeing sessions.
Bowling Park was chosen for its close ties to N-Gen’s nearby Birkshall Gas Site, part of a major low-carbon hydrogen project.
