We have reached the end of 2024 (where did the time go?) and 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Bradford District Museums and Galleries with lots happening across our four sites. We will be starting as we mean to go on, with two new exhibitions opening, a series of musical events and more - and that's just in January!
18 January
Join us for a day of family friendly activities linked to our new exhibition at Cartwright Hall.
We will have talks from exhibition co-creaters and activities for all.
There will be a family calligraphy workshop (requires booking), Mehndi designs, recitals by young people from the Al-Mustafa Centre in Girlington and the chance to try your boxing skills with the Tasif Khan Community Boxing Academy.
With a long tradition of music and performance at Cliffe Castle from the moment it was built, in 2025 we’re arranging a‘Season of Music’ centered on the theme of music, sound and performance.
You can enjoy concerts, talks, performances and family activities all within the dramatic setting of Cliffe Castle Museum and Park. We kick off in style with mid-month musical weekend.
Little Listeners: Cinderella by Opera North

Closing Date- 27 January 2025
At the start of 2024, a group of young people from across the Bradford district came together to join the ‘Bradford Young Ambassadors’ and volunteer with the aim of encouraging other young people to become involved with our service. Since then, they have delivered five workshops - across all four of our sites, with the last one at Bradford Industrial Museum on the 8th December.
That event also launched recruitment for next year’s cohort of Young Ambassadors. We are looking for young people between the ages of 16 and 25, who love arts, heritage and culture and are keen to learn more. The Young Ambassadors will learn skills and gain experience that they can include on a future CV as well as referees for future job applications.
The closing date for applying to be a Young Ambassador is Monday 27 January 2025 at 10am
Survey deadline 2nd February
Although we hope all our visitors feel welcome and comfortable at our four sites, we know there is always room for improvement. Today, we want to ask for your views on accessibility at Bradford District Museums and Galleries.
The survey should take around 15 minutes to complete. If you complete the survey you will be able to enter the prize draw to win £100 of vouchers . The deadline for completing the survey and entering the prize draw is 9am on Monday 3 February.
Our Collections team came across this New Years Card in our stores. We have a fascinating selection of various greetings cards for various festive occasions - thought sadly not many are digitised yet - but we thought it was a perfect way to mark the New Year.
So, just like the card says, we'd like to wish you 'A Happy New Year!' and here's to an exciting 2025...
