Addressing Poverty through Action on Bullying

Living Well Schools have developed toolkits to help schools address poverty

As part of Anti-bullying week 2024, Living Well Schools would like to highlight our range of Poverty Toolkits, that are based on 'Poverty Proofing' audits in Bradford Primary Schools.

To prevent and address bullying, including bullying related to income inequality, schools must know about pupils’ experiences, promote learning about bullying, and act quickly, consistently, and effectively. The Bullying Toolkit provides prompts for schools to self-assess their current provision and guidance with appropriate actions. Check out our Poverty page to download all our toolkits.

Empathy Studios - Empathy Week 2025

Empathy

Empathy Studios are educators, qualified teachers and professional filmmakers who believe in starting early to develop the essential skills young people need, both personally and professionally.

If students can't understand themselves or connect with others, they may struggle with a range of issues, including belonging, mental health, and self-esteem.

Empathy Week, taking place in March 2025, aims to build the #EmpathyGeneration by developing the skill of empathy in 1 billion students.

Food for Life – Cook and Share with us this November

Cook and share month

This November, the campaign to get people across the UK cooking together returns. Schools, nurseries, communities and families will be cooking to connect through good food whilst being kind to the planet – and pocket!

Whether cooking in the classroom or inviting parents in to try a school meal, hosting a Cook and Share event is a great way to build skills whilst ticking off Food for Life criteria. Find out more below and hear about Share a School Dinner Day, our new celebration of school meals.

Our Lady and St Brendan's X Fruit Works

logo

One of our fantastic Living Well Schools, Our Lady and St Brendan's Primary School, were able to take part in an apple juicing workshop facilitated by Trees for Cities and Fruit Works on Tuesday 4th November. The children were able to learn about the benefits of tree planting for our environment, in addition to tasting some freshly juiced apples. Brilliant work!

Drugs, Alcohol, Vaping and Gambling Harms Survey

City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council’s Public Health team are carrying out a Survey to understand how education about drugs, alcohol, vaping and gambling harm is delivered within schools. The survey will help us to understand how schools currently provide education on this topic, and where there might be gaps or additional needs for schools. We will use the results/information to inform and influence local partnership delivery plans which include education, prevention and support to young people and families. Please  help us by completing the survey by Friday, 15th November, 2024 (12 noon)
