Children can get creative with this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, Marvellous Makers!
The Summer Reading Challenge is a free holiday activity for children. It’s all about reading for fun, aiming to improve children’s reading skills and confidence. The Challenge runs every year throughout the summer holidays, and all children aged 4-11 are welcome to take part!
Children can read anything they like (really – anything!) and collect free rewards for their reading. Just pop in to your local library to sign up.
Summer Family Activities

While the doors of the National Science + Media Museum (NSMM) remain closed for a bit longer, they are offering free family activities across Bradford this summer to bring science to you.
You can enjoy hands-on activities and learn about inspiring inventors with the Summer Reading Challenge at Bradford Libraries, see live science demos at Tong Garden Centre, or get crafty at Shipley Glen Tramway.

Bradford Pride will be taking over Bradford’s City Park for a colourful day of celebrations with an array of exciting free live performances.
Featuring live acts and DJs on the main stage - expect amazing vocalists, musicians, kings, queens, tributes and celebrities.
Keighley Pride

It's time to celebrate at the annual Keighley Pride Gala at Cougar Park.
Enjoy a gala with music, entertainment, stalls, youth activities, light music, and an evening concert featuring Marigold Addams, karaoke, and a DJ.
Creative Eco Fest

Come along to discover creative solutions to helping the environment, while having a whole lot of fun.

Baildon is all set to celebrate Yorkshire Day in style! From 29 July, the town will be adorned with the iconic Yorkshire white rose, and local businesses will be offering delicious Yorkshire-inspired culinary treats.
On Thursday 1 August, official Yorkshire Day – there will be a chance to stretch your legs with a walk looking at the historical sites of Baildon, including a stop at the famous potted meat stick to hear the Declaration of Yorkshire proclaimed.
The week will culminate on Saturday, 3rd August, with a day of Yorkshire-themed events. Come and watch clog dancing in the market square or a demonstration of dry stone walling. Hear music played by the Bradford Concert Band or enjoy the ukelele group Baildon Strummers. Or you could listen to fascinating readings in the Yorkshire dialect, and there will be a chance to read some of your own poetry at an open mike poetry session.

Guided Walks
 Take part in wonderful guided walks taking place across the district. Here's what's coming up:
Along the Wharfe (Tuesday, 6 August / 10.30am): Meet Howard Lloyd at 10.30am at the Old Stone Bridge over the river at the bottom of Stockeld Road Ilkley (off A65) for a walk on the Dales Way to Addingham alongside the River Wharfe and returning to Ilkley through tranquil Wharfedale countryside. The linear option (3 miles) involves returning by bus from Addingham. Please note the start point is approximately a 15 minute walk from Ilkley rail/bus station.
Doe Park and beyond (Tuesday, 13 August / 10.30am): Meet Daphne Allen at 10.30am outside the Mechanics Institute, Denholme (bus 67 or 502 from Keighley) for a varied walk with extensive views.
The Bradford Family Film Festival
