Living Well Schools

The Journey So Far

The Living Well Schools team have had a very busy few months with the initial onboarding process.

So far, the team have:

  • Onboarded 44 new schools
  • Delivered 13 workshops/toolkits/assemblies

Way to go team!

Living Well Schools sits within the public health team at Bradford Council and aims to support schools in navigating the complexities of health and wellbeing promotion and provision within the district, linking, and signposting schools with quality evidence backed resources, tools, and providers to ensure every child can have the opportunity to thrive and achieve during their school life.

The four key areas of support include physical activity, nutrition, mental wellbeing, and poverty.

If your school is interested in finding out more about how the team can support you in being a Living Well School, please visit our website here.

We wish you a restful and recuperative summer break and look forward to working with you in September!

Royal Ballet & Opera Offer

Royal Ballet & Opera are looking for schools to take part in a research project in return schools receive £150.

As part of the Royal Ballet & Opera (RBO) collaboration with Bradford City of Culture and Born in Bradford, the RBO seeks primary schools to participate in an exciting and fully funded research project, for the academic year 2024/2025.

Teachers will need to attend a full day of CPD in Bradford on October 9th which will  support them in delivering the RBOs’ award-winning Create & Dance program.

Teachers will then implement the Create & Dance program in autumn for five hours using lesson resources and exemplar schemes of work that will be provided. Children will also participate in two live digital lessons with dancers from the Royal Ballet.

In exchange, researchers will observe lessons, and pupils will participate in a fun interactive focus group workshop (in your school, led by researchers) to understand the impact of children, teachers, and schools participating.

Plus receive a £150 voucher for your school for participating!

Suitable for PE leads or class teachers. No previous dance experience is needed.

Register your interest in taking part by completing this short form.

Living Well Schools Healthy Lifestyle Week

Co-op Academy Penny Oaks kick starts their healthy lifestyles week with Living Well Schools.

The wonderful Helen and Shaista, the Living Well Schools leads for Keighley and Bradford West, recently delivered a brilliant and inspiring whole school assembly at Co-op Academy Penny Oaks to kick start their healthy lifestyles week.

Utilising the British Nutrition Foundations, 5 themes for their June healthy eating week, the team were able to engage children in conversations around nutrition and portion sizes.

Children were joining in using their hands to show examples of portion sizes and thinking about what changes they could make that week!
