Living Well Schools Launch

Living Well School’s officially launches in September 2024,  though a phased targeted approach.

Living Well Schools (LWS) is part of Bradford Council's Public Health team. It collaborates with partners across the district, who form an active steering group.

LWS is passionate about pioneering a holistic whole-school approach to health and well-being. LWS aims to support schools in the Bradford district to ensure every child has the best possible education experience and improve long-term health outcomes.

The four key priority areas of focus are physical activity, nutrition, mental wellbeing, and reducing inequalities within the classroom. They offer a facilitated approach to link schools with a range of relevant guidance, resources, services, and training to meet schools' unique needs.

School Leads are currently approaching schools on a phased basis, so keep an eye out for future communications.

Jamie Oliver Schools Programme rolled out to 100 more schools!

Following a successful pilot, the Jamie Oliver Schools programme is expanding to 100 more secondary schools across the UK.

Although Living Well Schools is launching in primary schools first, we could not miss this opportunity to share Jamie's offer for secondary schools.

The programme includes access to range of engaging curriculum resources suitable for Key Stage 3 including readily to go lesson plans, recipes, video content and theory materials. As a bonus, schools can also access an invitation to a live online masterclass with the Jamie Oliver Cookery School, bringing cooking to life in the classroom!

Feedback from teachers who took part in the pilot shared some incredibly positive feedback below:

“I saw working with Jamie’s Ministry of Food as a massive opportunity to put food education on the map in my school in my school, being part of the pilot and sharing with the students that Jamie Oliver has planned their cooks makes the students keen to get cracking on the recipes” (Sarah Paddison, Great Academy Ashton).
